Together, We Can Make a Difference in All Our Students' Lives: Donate Today!

LWHS PTSA is a nonprofit 501©(3) organization that operates solely through the dedication of volunteers and relies on generous donations from our community. In turn, we use these donations to benefit all students and the entire staff at LWHS.

  • Students: over $18,000 in grants for classroom and club activities, enrichment programs, scholarships, supplies and celebration events
  • The Senior Party, also known as a dry grad, offers students a secure and enjoyable environment to commemorate their graduation alongside their fellow peers. Organizing the Senior Party involves extensive event planning and relies on the dedication of dozens of parent volunteers who contribute countless hours of their time.
  • Teachers/staff: $7,000 in classroom grants and multiple staff appreciation events
  • Parents & community: $4,000 in emergency preparation supplies, newsletters, and community events.

For those who are able, we request a minimum donation of $50 per family. Additionally, we encourage you to consider corporate matching funds for both donations and volunteer time to help maximize the impact of your contribution. Thank you!

From the Desk of LWHS Principal Christine Bell

Dear Kang Families,

I want to start by celebrating the return to school activities we have celebrated this fall. Our Homecoming game and dance were a great success, and our students are demonstrating engagement at an incredible rate. One event that was very exciting for our staff and students was our club fair. To those of you who supported your students in preparing presentations for their clubs; thank you.

I personally enjoy the club fair because I get to see the incredible work of our students firsthand. Clubs and service groups are a means of exploring passion and future opportunities. Our students are focused on life after high school and their excitement is contagious.

Our focus this year is on a return to rigor. As I visit classrooms, I see excellence in all areas. I encourage you to ask your student to dig into stories about their day. In my practice I like to ask teenagers to "tell me about your day" rather than asking "how was your day." This practice helps us solicit more than one word answers. Another way to ask is to say, "what is the best part of your day?"

You are doing a fantastic job of preparing students for school. I am so impressed with our families and how our students approach challenges, both in school and in outside activities.

If you are interested in seeing excellence in our classrooms firsthand, I encourage you to sign up to participate in Parent Learning Walks. This is a chance for you to visit classrooms with our team and experience learning in a variety of classroom environments.

Our first round of Learning Walks is scheduled for the morning of October 19th. There is no experience needed. Just fill out the form and we will do the rest.

I value our partnership and am so appreciative of your support. Go Kangs!

Application for Fall PTSA Grants Now Open

LWHS PTSA is excited to be able to support the Kang community by funding equipment and activities that will help to foster connection and learning. LWHS PTSA has funds to support grants for school staff and ASB clubs:

  • The teacher/staff enrichment grants provide an opportunity for staff members to request funding to support programs, equipment, or other activities that will help enrich the educational experience at LWHS.
  • ASB Club grants can support activities by funding equipment and participation at events.

If you would like to apply for a grant, more information and the application form are on the PTSA website under "Teachers and Staff / Teacher Grant Info".

The deadline for Fall grant requests is Friday, October 27th; applicants will be notified about funding in mid-November.
