Goodwill’s CEO stepping down after 20 years with the local nonprofit
Goodwill Northern New England’s President and CEO, Rich Cantz notified the Board of Directors of his decision to leave his role later this year after a 20-year career with the nonprofit.
“Working for such an impactful organization has been a dream, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done. After two decades with Goodwill, it’s time for a change. It’s time to write my life’s next chapter,” Cantz said. “This has been such a hard decision, but now is the right time as the organization is on very solid footing, strong and full of momentum. Because of my fantastic Goodwill teammates, I know that will continue.”
Cantz joined Goodwill in 2003 as the Director of The Goodwill Fund. Over the years, he has held various positions of increasing scope in the areas of advancement, program development and public policy including Senior Vice President, Strategic Development and Public Policy. Cantz was promoted to President and CEO in July 2018.
In his time with Goodwill, Cantz helped develop the Job Connection Model of workforce services. He saw the traditional model of offering career advising, resume support, and job training weren’t enough for the people in the most need of services. Cantz helped bring in “life navigators” who support the workforce participants with the life challenges that often get in the way of a stable career; things like mental health, transportation, childcare, a history of substance abuse, and more. Under Cantz’s leadership, this new model of holistically supporting clients received national funding from the US Department of Labor.

Maine’s biggest and best family reunion is back Father’s Day weekend! | |

For 39 years, the Lung Association’s Trek Across Maine has drawn in hundreds of cyclists to ride 180 miles over three days through Maine communities. Trekkers aim to raise over $1 million to support the American Lung Association mission to research, educate, and advocate to prevent lung disease and promote lung health.
Join the American Lung Association for the 39th annual Trek Across Maine on Father’s Day Weekend – June 16 – 18, 2023. Choose our traditional 3-day, 180-mile option, or do it on your own virtually! Just like last year, the ride will start and end at Thomas Point Beach & Campground in Brunswick. Overnight stops at Bates College in Lewiston and St. Joseph’s College in Standish provide a place to rest and relax after each leg of the Trek. Activities, entertainment and food are all a part of the full Trek experience at each location. This ride is fully supported by volunteers and local and state law enforcement, including support vehicles along the route and three rest stops daily.
VIRTUAL OPTION
For those that can’t get away, but still want to raise money and support the American Lung Association! Record your miles virtually and raise your minimum by June 30, 2023, to earn your commemorative t-shirt and medal!
VOLUNTEER WITH US!
The American Lung Association needs volunteers for rest stops, weekend
drivers, route marshals, cheerleaders, and more. We offer rooming and meals for
volunteers who assist us more than one day. For more information or to sign up
as a Trekker or volunteer, visit trekacrossmaine.org or call 207-624-0302. It’s simple, just say “YES”!
