Kennebec Valley Chamber is proud to be the host to the IRONMAN Maine 70.3!

This economic impact is huge for our region and the whole state! A lot of our businesses had record sales from the athletes and their supporters!

We had over 2,200 people signed up for the race, day of more than 1,800 athletes started the race, which included competitors from 28 countries, regions, and territories, and 47 states!!!!

Athletes began their IRONMAN 70.3-mile journey with a top 5 Athlete Choice Award winning downriver, point-to-point 1.2-mile swim in the Kennebec River, one of the fastest on the IRONMAN 70.3 circuit. After transitioning, athletes embarked on a 56-mile bike course that was positioned perfectly in the Kennebec River Valley. The bike course moves south along the Kennebec River and has a mix of adventurous climbs and swooping descents through the rural towns of Maine. Athletes capped off their race with a 13.1-mile run along the canopy tree-lined Kennebec River Rail Trail finishing in downtown Augusta.

THANK YOU to all of the municipalities, agencies, over 800 volunteers, athletes, all the spectators along the route and the chamber staff!!!

See you again next year IRONMAN on Sunday July 28th 2024!

Please take a moment and fill out this survey to tell us about your IRONMAN experience:

Monkitree invites you to “Reawakening,” a show of works by Michael Gent of Gardiner, Maine...

Like many artists, Mike Gent began his art exploration as a young child, first with crayons then pastels, pen and ink, and most recently, oils. Career led him to express himself mainly through mechanical engineering, metalwork and drafting. During that time, he worked to maintain his drawing skill. In 2014, he began to focus in earnest on regaining his artistic skills. Mastering techniques and color theory are the key to fully expressing himself through his work. Mike considers this body of work a series of studies.

When & Where:

263 Water Street, Gardiner, ME

Regular shop hours: Tues-Friday 10-5, Saturday 10-4 or by appointment through August 12, 2023.

CALLING ALL NON-PROFITS!

Did you know that all of our non-profit members are eligible to use the energy procurement services of Maine PowerOptions?

Maine PowerOptions (MPO) is an energy-purchasing consortium that serves as an energy aggregator and educational service for Maine's public, governmental and non-profit organizations.

Their group-purchasing programs are designed to increase the buying power of member organizations for the purchase of fuel oil, electricity supply and related services.

The result is lower energy costs for Maine's non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, health care organizations, water, sewer, and school districts, and municipalities.

Membership and participation are voluntary and come at little or no cost to the members. MPO hosts monthly, educational webinars on timely energy topics and produces an e-newsletter for members that includes grant and other funding opportunities available to its members.

Maine PowerOptions is a program co-sponsored by the Maine Health and Higher Educational Facilities Authority and the Maine Municipal Bond Bank.

Please contact Kay Mann, Program Manager at 207-620-1469 or Terry Bailey, Program Assistant at 621-0744 for membership information, or visit the MPO website.

2023 Nominations are now open for the Leaders & Luminaries

Awards!

Through our Leaders & Luminaries Awards, we aim to shine a light on nonprofit board members who bring a new level of leadership to their role and are paving the way in board service and volunteerism. Since 2011, Camden National Bank has celebrated and recognized 58 of these board members—often unsung community heroes— who exhibit exemplary leadership skills, execute strong strategic and financial plans, and have a passion for their organization’s long-term growth.
