Dear Valued Members,
Welcome to May! April showers definitely brought May flowers! I grew up in Pennsylvania and never had allergies. I have lived here for 34 years and just started having them a couple of years ago. Any home remedies you would like to share?
We will have the outdoor courts cleaned as soon as the majority of the heavy yellow pollen is gone. There are two playable courts that I hope to get some small patches repaired this spring. The other side, courts 7 and 8, will need to be reconstructed due to root damage. This is on my list to get done either late this year or early next year. More to come.
Summer Memberships will start June 1. This is an opportunity for snowbirds and others that just want a 3-month membership to join. You get all privileges except house charges. This is a great deal as you do not pay a joining fee at the time you join or pay one if you continue to a regular membership. Please pass the word.
We are starting our first-grade Kitsap Kids Learn 2 Swim (KKL2S) program on May 6. We can still use a few more volunteers to help with some of the dates. Please email me if you can help at all. It is not crucial that you have to do all the dates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We always need volunteers for various events and programs. We have a great program called Kids' Night Out on the 2nd Saturday of every month. We usually have about 50 kids attend. It consists of dodgeball, tennis, board games, and swimming. The times are 6-8:30pm. We serve pizza at 8pm. The kids have a blast, and the parents get a date night or just some needed shopping time. So, if you love kids and pizza, please let me know if you can help.
We have an event coming up on June 1 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds called Kids Day. This day is filled with fun, food, and safety information. We will have a covered outside booth with tennis and an inside booth with information about water safety. If you would like to help us and be part of this great community event, please contact me. It will run from 10am-2:30pm that day.
Summer camps are coming! We will be starting the first week of July. School gets out late this year. Save the date! July 1st for the first day of camps.
As always please come by and see me. I see that we gained about 20 new memberships in April. I am willing to extend the no-joining fee offer out a few more weeks if you know anyone who says, "darn I missed it!" I appreciate all of you and your constant support. Some of you almost brought me to tears!
Sincerely,
Katrina Fulkerson
