Dear Valued Members,
Welcome to June, AKA January. June has started out stormy. I hope none of you had any issues with power or fallen trees. This weekend looks like it will be a little warmer. KTAC has been bustling with activity. The Kitsap Kids Learn 2 Swim (KKL2S) concluded on June 3. I want to give a big shout out to all of the staff and especially the volunteers that made this program a huge success. The teachers said they have been getting rave reviews from the parents and kids. So, Thank you so much!! We are hoping for at least 3 schools to come back next school year. I also want to thank the members for your patience during this time. It is a lot to have 70 kids come through the locker rooms and go into the pool.
We had two booths at Kids’ Day at the Fairgrounds this past Saturday. It was a nice day and there were a lot of kids. It was nonstop for 4 1/2 hours. We had a water safety theme inside where we talked about various life saving techniques and our new Tennis Pro, Vince, was outside letting kids try tennis. There was some raw talent to say the least. This is one of our biggest events to get our information out in the community. I am guessing there were at least 1500 people.
Summer Memberships are in full swing as well as sign ups for Summer Tennis Camps. We do have some scholarship monies for the tennis camps, thanks to some generous donors. If you would like to send more kids to camp, please contact me about a donation.
We are also adding summer morning swim lessons in July and August to help fill the void in the community. Our regular year-round lessons often sell out every month and this will give an opportunity for more kids to learn this important and necessary skill. We will share more information on the dates and times as soon as possible.
Come join us for the next Tennis Social on Friday, June 14. We will be having our Tennis Pro, Jade, conduct a demo with the company Toalson. You will be able to try new equipment and there will be some fun giveaways.
As always it is a pleasure to be your manager. I will continue to help KTAC move forward and improve. I feel like I have made a good start, but I have many ideas and plans for the future. If you can’t stop by to see me and would like to share your ideas and thoughts, there are comment cards in the lobby.
Sincerely,
Katrina Fulkerson
