NPR 2024 Election Coverage: Iowa caucuses

2024 Election Get closer to the issues NPR Network KGOU

The first contest of this Presidential election year kicks off with the Iowa caucuses on Monday, Jan. 15. KGOU will broadcast NPR News special coverage starting at 7 p.m. CT. Ayesha Rascoe and Scott Detrow will host, joined by Senior Political Editor Domenico Montanaro, National Political Correspondent Mara Liasson, and correspondents Sarah McCammon and Danielle Kurtzleben, as well as Iowa Public Radio reporters Sheila Brummer and Zachary Owen Smith. Tune in as the results unfold or follow the liveblog online.

Year-end fundraising update: Goal exceeded!

Together we did it! KGOU's goal for calendar year-end giving was 500 contributions by Dec. 31 and listeners stepped forward with 534 donations totaling more than $102,000. Our fifth annual community partnership to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma as well as KGOU is again resulting in an additional $10,000 to both nonprofit organizations, thanks to residential builder Home Creations. Thank you, one and all!

And if you missed the Dec. 31 deadline for a 2023 tax deduction, the first month of a new year is an excellent time to begin a sustaining monthly contribution:

What 'critics' say about the Capitol Fools...

The Capitol Steps are reborn... as the Capitol Fools

The Capitol Steps, arguably the most popular political-wonks-turned-satirical-comedy-troupe ever, disbanded in the early days of the pandemic as live performances shut down. But an intrepid (some say foolish?) small group of former Steps refused to ride quietly into the sunset.

So they're back! And they'll be on the radio this Sunday, skewering 2023's political players on both sides of the aisle and providing some much-needed musical comedy relief. Tune in for the KGOU Sunday Radio Matinee Jan. 14 at 12 p.m.
