April 2024
KDIGO at the World Congress of Nephrology
KDIGO was thrilled to take part in the 2024 International Society of Nephrology World Congress of Nephrology (ISN WCN) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which offered a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and great opportunities to learn and connect.

This year KDIGO held two sessions, which drew large crowds and sparked insightful discussions. The first session was on Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD), and featured ADPKD Guideline Co-Chair, Vicente Torres, MD (United States), Guideline Work Group Members Peter Harris, MD (United States) and Luiz Onuchic, MD (Brazil), and Ita Pfeferman Heilberg, MD (Brazil). The panel delved into various aspects of ADPKD management, covering topics ranging from optimization of patient care to the role of tolvaptan in hypertension management. The session concluded with a lively question and answer segment.

KDIGO also held a joint session with the ISN, "KDIGO 2024 Anemia Guideline: Case-based Illustrations," with Anemia Guideline Co-Chair Marcello Tonelli, MD (Canada), and Guideline Work Group Members Evi Nagler, MD (Belgium) and José Moura-Neto, MD (Brazil). The session provided invaluable insights into the diagnosis and management of anemia in CKD patients. Attendees were treated to practical applications of the guideline, tailored to various patient populations, including those on dialysis, kidney transplant recipients, and children with CKD. A question and answer segment offered an engaging interactive dialogue.

Beyond the sessions, KDIGO's booth served as a hub of activity, where staff shared resources from the 2024 CKD and Lupus Nephritis Guidelines. KDIGO appreciated the opportunity to connect with new contacts and familiar faces, and eagerly looks forward to WCN 2025 in New Delhi, India.

Incorporating Targeted Therapies in Treatment Planning for AAV
On Demand CME Webinar
Available in English and Spanish

ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) is a complex autoimmune disease. This condition can lead to life-threatening complications that primarily affect kidney function due to necrotizing glomerulonephritis. In Incorporating Targeted Therapies in Treatment Planning for AAV, Bernhard Hellmich, MD (Germany) and David Jayne, MD (United Kingdom) discuss how to incorporate targeted therapies when managing AAV.

This webinar, developed by Medtelligence and available in Spanish, is designed to meet the educational needs of nephrologists and rheumatologists. After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to identify the role of the alternative complement pathway in the pathogenesis of AAV, contrast the efficacy and safety of induction and maintenance therapies in managing patients with AAV, and identify patients who may benefit from C5a inhibitors.
