NEW COMMISH AT THE FCC?

PRESIDENT BIDEN NOMINATES ANNA GOMEZ

Veteran telecom lawyer Anna Gomez has been nominated by President Joe Biden to serve on the Federal Communications Commission, a five-member regulatory body stuck in a 2-2 deadlock.

Gomez, a former FCC and Senate staffer, is serving as a telecom policy adviser in the U.S. State Department. She also served as deputy administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, a key agency within the Commerce Department involved in improving internet accessibility.

NAB President & CEO Curtis LeGeyt commented, "NAB congratulates Anna Gomez on her nomination by President Biden to serve as an FCC Commissioner. Ms. Gomez possesses a wealth of experience in media and telecommunications, most notably from her service as acting administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration during the nation’s transition to digital television. With Next Gen TV launching in markets around the country, if confirmed, Ms. Gomez can bring her demonstrated ability to work with industry, manufacturers and consumers to help ensure a smooth and expeditious transition for millions of Americans."

In addition to the nomination for Gomez, Biden announced the re-nomination of commissioners Geoffrey Starks and Brendan Carr to serve additional 5-year terms.

HABITS TO CHANGE YOUR FUTURE

As a student of life-long learning, and always searching to find better ways to #getbetter, I’m always reading, watching, and searching for new and unique content to share with you.  Recently I found a post on Instagram from a company called @BillionaireUnions from Miami Beach.  In the post, they suggest that if you simply become addicted to these 9 habits over the next 6 months, you won’t recognize yourself at the end of 2023.  Here are the 9 habits:

  1. Wake up at 5 am – Waking up early means you’re already ahead of everyone else. It gives you more time to work out, plan your day and be more productive.
  2. Write down your thoughts before you go to bed – Writing before bed will improve your quality of sleep.  Write your goals for the next day, what you’re grateful for, and any negativity you may be carrying.  Putting these on paper gets them out of your head and allows you to sleep.
  3. Learn an online skill 30-minutes a day - With the massive change and shift in the job market, learning something new every day keeps you current and employable.
  4. Spend 1 hour a day exercising – To have good mental health, you have to be in good physical health. You define the activity it doesn’t need to be powerlifting or marathon running.
  5. Sit in silence for 10 minutes a day - Your mind is racing with hundreds of thoughts every minute. Sitting in silence allows you to clear your mind and be calm.
  6. Create a consistent and proper sleep schedule – You know what the appropriate amount of sleep is, your body will tell you.  Ensure that you can have it by: (a) no screen time 2 hours before bed, (b) no eating 2 hours before bed, (c) make your room cooler, and (d) use blackout curtains if necessary.
  7. Take a 30-minute walk in nature – this will help you get rid of anxiety, enhance your gratitude, and improve your mood.
  8. Read 20 pages per day – reading strengthens your mind, increases focus, increases knowledge and enhances your self-confidence
  9. Drink water with every meal – staying hydrated can be difficult in our busy schedules.  The health and mental benefits of hydration are undeniable

We’d love to hear your strategies for being at the top of your game.  These 9 things seem simple enough.  The key is to not just read or learn them, but do them.
