We partnered with KISH to host a trades session at the High School. We feel this is an important partnership to create a better relationship between the high school students and the local business community.

Thank you for the nominations for the Business Awards Gala. The "People's Choice" Community Impact Award is open for the public to vote on until this Friday at midnight, the other 6 categories are currently with 3 judges and I know it will not be an easy job. We will be announcing the top 3 nominees in each category in the next week.

The Kensington & Area Chamber & Greater Summerside Chamber had a presence at "The Summit" that was hosted by the Startup Zone. This was a great day of sessions and panels to highlight entrepreneurs and create great partnerships and growth opportunities.

Message from the Mayor
Credit Union Centre Update – We are pleased to report that most of the upgrades have been completed at the Credit Union Centre which have made significant improvements to our rink. New boards have been placed around the ice surface, higher safety glass and safety netting has been installed, lights have been converted to LED lighting, interior and exterior painting has been finished and the public washrooms have been fully renovated. The parking lot has been expanded, re-paved and parking stalls lined which will help to keep some parking off the streets. We have just competed the installation of our new Ice making system to replace the old plant which was at the end of its life. Left to be done is the installation of some solar panels to help control operating costs. This is the second upgrade to this facility since the Town took it over in 2012. Ice rentals are now available! We thank our funding partners with the Federal and Provincial Government who helped to offset some of the upgrade costs. Thank you to the user groups who have been patiently waiting for this winter season to begin.

Mid-Isle Farms
Potatoes from our red soil to your table - through passion, tradition, experience & knowledge.

In the late 1970's a group of ambitious potato farmers, better known as friends, identified a need for washed potatoes in the marketplace. The original 7 - all farm families, unanimously agreed to work together and bring Mid Isle Farms to life.

Over 35 years later, Mid Isle Farms is now one of Prince Edward Island's largest fresh packing facilities and takes pride in providing nutritious potatoes to the homes and restaurants of millions of Canadians and Americans under the FoodTrust brand.

As for the original 7 - 5 of these family farms are now being operated by 6th and 7th generation farmers. They put their heart and soul into every potato that is planted, cared for and harvested.

We package and ship yellow, red, round, and russet potato varieties that are supplied by our shareholders and other island growers. Our mission is to work with suppliers, customers and employees so that their needs and our purpose of operating a credible, successful, potato company are consistently being met. In addition we will explore opportunities for a viable new enterprise.

The Haunted Mansion
On a hillside in the town of Kensington, Prince Edward Island, stands a forbiddin mansion. Local legend tells of a wealthy English man, Dr. Jack, descending on the small farming community in the early 1890's and creating his Tudor style home. Care was taken to recreate the winding streets of London in the old cellar to provide an atmosphere of home away from home.

As the story goes, he opened a small hotel in his house, however many of the visitors were reportedly never heard from again. Several famous figures reportedly stayed with the Doctor for extended visits, the most notorious being Lizzy Borden... some say she still walks the halls!
