A message from the director

As we dive into the new academic year, we’re excited to share several K-State 105 projects and partnerships that are shaping the future of Kansas. From our community health worker project, which is improving the well-being of our agricultural workforce, to our support of innovative startup companies, there’s much to explore this month. Stay connected as we kick off a season full of opportunities and growth!

Best regards,

K-State 105 community health worker project helps rural Kansas and agricultural workforce

A large collaborative K-State 105 project is bringing together 12 partners — including Kansas State University units, other higher education institutions and health organizations — to help improve rural and agriculture-connected health across the state.

The Rural Ag Health Community Health Worker project focuses on sustaining the health and safety of rural Kansans and the agricultural workforce. The project is establishing resource and service hubs staffed by community health workers who are co-supervised by local K-State Research and Extension units and health care partners.

The community health worker project will involve work in 16 counties, including Allen, Bourbon, Clay, Cloud, Crawford, Jackson, Jefferson, Labette, Marshall, Montgomery, Nemaha, Neosho, Republic, Washington, Wilson and Woodson counties.

Technology Development Institute and GO Topeka partner to develop new hypoallergenic pet foods

Kansas State University's Technology Development Institute has partnered with GO Topeka and Arch Pet Food to develop a new low-ingredient hypoallergenic dog food formula.

This collaboration was supported by Plug and Play, a leading innovation platform that brings together cutting-edge startup companies and corporate partners to help launch new technologies and products. The Topeka Plug and Play program focuses on animal health companies, and through the K-State 105 initiative, K-State has engaged Plug and Play as a partner organization to provide technical support to these startup companies.
