Explore Funding Avenues This Second Chance Month

This Second Chance Month, the Bureau of Justice Assistance is offering communities, agencies, and other stakeholders who work in the criminal justice, reentry services, and supportive housing sectors an opportunity to access enhanced funding and resources to help bolster their efforts to support people transitioning back into community life post-incarceration. Key opportunities are listed below.  





  • Lastly, the Second Chance Act Community-based Reentry Program supports community-based nonprofit organizations and federally recognized Tribal governments in offering comprehensive reentry services, which can help provide seamless transitions for individuals reentering community life.

New Handbook Helps Project Coordinators Support Police-Mental Health Collaborations

While there can be many partners involved in a police-mental health collaboration (PMHC), day-to-day operations are typically overseen by a project coordinator and the PMHC’s interagency workgroup. This comprehensive handbook from the CSG Justice Center is designed to guide project coordinators through the process of planning, implementing, and continuously improving a PMHC. 

BLACK WOMEN'S HEALTH FORUM

From Root Causes to Solutions: Addressing Black Women’s Health 

On April 18, 2024, The Black Women’s Health Forum will be hosting a conference that sheds light on the health of Black women in the Bay Area. The forum invites participants to a day filled with informative discussions aimed at enhancing health outcomes. Topics range from reproductive health to chronic diseases and mental wellness and address critical issues within the Black community. The event features keynote speaker Dr. Amanda P. Williams among other esteemed experts. The event is free and open to the public.

This webinar will feature representatives from the Harris County (TX) Sherrif’s Office and The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD who will discuss the Clinician and Officer Remote Evaluation program, a collaboration between multiple law enforcement agencies and The Harris Center.
