JUNETEENTH IN REDWOOD CITY

Join the City of Redwood City in celebrating Juneteenth through a variety of special programs throughout the month of June.


Beginning this week, a Visual Arts Display explores artwork created by artists from the local Bay Area, and across America. Displays are hosted at the Downtown Library, the Redwood Shores Branch Library and the Stanford Campus in Redwood City between May 17 and June 21, 2024.

 

In early June, save the date for these programs:

SAT JUN 1, 2pm: Kid Makers: Celebrate Juneteenth!

TUE JUN 4, 6pm: Celebrating Juneteenth, a Historical Perspective

WED JUN 5, 6:30pm: Celebrating Juneteenth: Community Flower Book

THU JUN 6, 6pm: Celebrating Juneteenth: Community Flower Book @ Redwood Shores Branch

COMMUNITY ZOOM DAY

The next Community Zoom Day is this Wednesday, May 22 from 9am-3:45pm!⁠

Enjoy a full day of free online activities designed for seniors on Zoom. This virtual event occurs monthly. Community Zoom Days are an active collaboration between the Veterans Memorial Senior Center and Travonde! ⁠

9am: Rise and Shine with Ruth West Chair Yoga⁠

10am: Daily Habits to support Brain Health with AARP⁠

11am: Sunset and the Sea with San Mateo County Park⁠

1pm: Wills and Trusts⁠

3pm: Afternoon Stretching with Denise⁠

Our Seaside Story Hour series with the Marine Science Institute celebrates the wonders of the ocean and marine life. This month’s theme is whales and dolphins! You’re sure to have a whale of a time learning about these creatures this Saturday, May 25 at 11am at the Redwood Shores Branch Library. For grades K-5.

Teen Makers: Button Making



May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Join us in the Makerspace on Saturday, May 25 to make your own buttons to pin to backpacks, tote bags, or denim jackets and show your support of the cause. Drop in between 2-4pm to make, create, and collaborate! Also: stop by the Teen Center during open hours to make your own Mental Health Wellness kit. For grades 6-12.
