There were 2 brilliant events in May which showed Girlguiding Northamptonshire at its best. The sun shone on both occasions. The first was the Rainbow Country Park take over. It was great to see so many Rainbows enjoying the activities provided by the park rangers and guiding volunteers. Thank you to Bronwen, Andrea and the organising team for giving the girls a fantastic opportunity. The second was the water day for Guides and Rangers, thank you Chris and team for organising the day and letting the girls try new water activities.
Unfortunately, May also saw Girlguiding HQ announce the closure of all the HQ owned training and activity centres at the end of the year, this announcement followed the previous months decision to end British Guiding overseas from 1st September. I know many of our county volunteers have previously volunteered for BGO and still have friends volunteering overseas who have been affected. Many of us will have visited several of the activity centres and have fond memories of camps, holidays, Wellies and Wrist Bands and Sparkle and Ice, along with Girlguiding Northamptonshire’s fantastic Forrester camp in 2018 at Foxlease. If you’d like to share your views about these announcements please email HQ directly, thank you.
If your unit would like to try something new don’t forget to book onto the football skills sessions in June and July. This new partnership with Northampton Football Association will let all sections give football a go ahead of the Women’s World Cup.
