Safe Haven Center Second Anniversary

In 2020, Laurel House purchased a building in Lansdale, PA, where we relocated our shelter and expanded our supportive services.

Little did we know just how big of an impact it would have.

Since the opening of the Safe Haven Center, we've housed over 160 families, celebrated holidays, personal and professional achievements of our staff and clients, and so much more.

North Wales Renovation Project Update!

Founded in 1992, Nehemiah's Way provided transitional housing for abused women and their children, many of whom moved in after completing their stay at Laurel House’s domestic violence shelter. In addition to transitional housing, the families received the support they needed to help stabilize their lives and heal from the trauma of domestic violence and abuse.

In 2003, Nehemiah’s Way became a part of Laurel House, where we continued providing support to survivors. Now, over 20 years later, the historic building needs updating and renovations.

Construction began in January and is expected to be completed this summer! Some of the changes currently underway in the renovation include:

Expanding our capacity from 5 apartment units to 6 apartment units;

Making one unit fully ADA accessible by adding a wheelchair ramp;

Installing all new HVAC units to eliminate the need for window air conditioners;

Updating electrical and plumbing.

The team at Connie Lezenby Architectural firm and H. Mininger and Son, General Contractors are also installing the new floors, putting on the first coat of paint and installing cabinets!

We are looking forward to being able to help 6 new families move into the Nehemiah’s Way Transitional Housing building when the needed renovation work is finished!

Your continued support helps make crucial updates such as these possible.

Pride Month

Happy Pride Month from Laurel House!

All too often, members of the LGBTQIA+ community are invisible victims of domestic abuse. That's why we want to show our active support for our neighbors in the LGBTQIA+ community.

To kick off Pride Month, several of our staff members recently had the honor of joining Montgomery County leaders and officials to raise the Pride flag at the Montgomery County Courthouse! Volunteers also provided resources at the Lansdale Pride Walk.

On Saturday, June 22, we'll be hosting our annual Drag Show Bingo! We look forward to sharing about the life-saving work that we do at Laurel House.

There is still time to purchase tickets for our afternoon show! These funds will be used to help all survivors of domestic violence.
