Guitar Exhibit Now Open!

Last week, we lifted the curtain on America at the Crossroads: The Guitar and a Changing Nation, and GoodDay Sacramento's Big Al Sams came by to get a first look. Thanks to all who have visited so far!

ICYMI: This National Guitar Museum touring exhibition celebrates the evolution and cultural impact of the guitar through history, and a bonus section in the California Museum’s presentation spotlights Golden State musicians and manufacturers who made their mark globally. The exhibit will be on view through September 1.

Uprooted Honored with Anthem Award

We are excited to share that Uprooted: An American Story is a winner in the 3rd Annual Anthem Awards. The exhibition, developed by C&G Partners in 2023 in partnership with Museum staff, uses interactive oral histories, scale models, 1:1 recreation of a barracks, and poignant personal memorabilia to ground the story of the Japanese American incarceration in reality. A cloud of 1,000 tsuru—origami cranes—floats over the exhibition, expressing a wish that a similar travesty will never happen again.

Thank you to the volunteers (pictured above) who lead our annual education program about the incarceration and those who also served in the exhibit advisory group, as well as to the exhibit’s designer, Kevin Sayama, and Museum staff who helped develop Uprooted: An American Story.
