SUMMER LEARNING CHALLENGE

It’s nearly June 1, the first day of the 2024 Summer Learning Challenge! The Summer Learning Challenge is a fun – and FREE – way to engage youth, families and adults by challenging them to read, explore new activities and learn new skills all summer long. Research shows that students who read four or more books over the summer are better prepared for the coming school year.

Visit any Redwood City Public Library location or head to our webpage to sign up and see all the amazing summer programs we are offering! Thank you to Friends of the Redwood City Public Library for sponsoring the Summer Learning Challenge!

TEEN LIBRARY TAKEOVER

We asked local teens for their ideas, and we're excited to announce the launch of our first Teen Library Takeover program in June!

Drop into the Teen Center on June 8 from 11:30am to 2pm for Teen Takeover: Celebrating LGBTQ+ Authors. This vibrant event, organized by teens, honors LGBTQ+ authors and their literary works. Held in the Teen Center, it’s an inclusive celebration open to all ages. Enjoy delicious food, craft your own pins, and take home free books!

Teen Library Takeover offers small, one-time grants to groups of teens in the Redwood City and North Fair Oaks communities to bring their library program ideas to life. Stay tuned for more programs led by our youth community!
