And then, one fairy night, May became June.

Hello Friends and Clients
June's joy is upon us and even though there are a few rainy days, the Flathead Valley has sprung to life in all its glory. Enjoy! In addition, it's so wonderful to see our friends returning for the summer. Bigfork village is popping with new shops and events daily. Best lake town, oh yeah! The media agrees announcing of the 10 best lake towns. Bigfork is #1. Read the article here or click on the photo.
So, my question is: Is it time to down size or up size? Is it time to build your own dream home? Is it time to sell and move into town or buy or build in the woods? If you're trying to decide if now’s the time to sell, you have an advantage. Inventory is still limited with more and more buyers out there. And as you can see by the numbers below, prices are still up. Read here what the industry experts are saying. Whatever your real estate goals, I can help. I'll listen to your wants and needs, and together, we'll set expectations based on current market conditions. Remember, not every buyer is looking for a mortgage and many buyers are looking for a safe and stable place to put their money. This is a time for new and bold thinking.
I am known for walking all the way with my clients, giving them the benefit of my knowledge and experience and I never let them slip. Times may have changed but I have not. I will help you meet your needs if you want to make a change. We can and will do it--together. Call me, we'll make it happen.
As ever, Denise

A note about comparing real estate metrics from one year to another....This can be challenging in a normal housing market due to possible variability in the market. Comparing this year’s numbers to the two ‘unicorn’ years we just experienced is almost worthless. Read here about keeping current now the that ‘unicorns’ have galloped off and the market is getting back to normal.

Testimonial
When the time came to sell our home in Bigfork, Denise Lang was the perfect choice. Her years of experience were a great benefit to us: she guided us in preparing the home for to show, connected us with resources for construction repairs and watched over the projects, all the way to close, as this was not our primary residence. We cannot say enough about Denise's professionalism, integrity, communication and skill in selling our home. We are so pleased to have worked with her representing us and would highly recommend you run…don’t walk! to her if selling or buying in the Bigfork, Flathead area! She was truly the best agent we have EVER worked with!! Plus a great sense of humor! And thank you again for ALL you did for our family! So great beyond words. -- Susan and George
I am honored to receive such kind kudos from my clients! Thank you, Susan and George

CERI says... "Pets are a now becoming a real estate marketing tool!"
|
|
Census data shows, more households have pets than children. From what my humans tell me (and they should know because they are in real estate), Realtors are increasingly targeting pet owners in their marketing, hoping to capitalize on the growing share of buyers who are shopping for a home that meets their animals’ needs. Some agents are even putting photos of themselves with their pets on business cards and other marketing materials. Imagine that?! When are my people going to feature me? Here’s an article that my 4 legged friends and me love. It names the top cities for pet owners. I wouldn’t mind living in Tucson, Palm Springs or Albuquerque! But then I really love Bigfork! Read here.

DENISE'S COOKING CORNER - Crab Cakes with Remoulade Sauce
These are THE BEST crab cakes I have EVER tasted or made!
|
|
Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon sweet paprika
2 tablespoons olive oil
3/4 cup brunoised red onion
1/2 cup brunoised red bell pepper
1/2 cup brunoised yellow bell pepper
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 pound lump crab meat
2 fresh jalapeno chilies, seeded and brunoised
2 tablespoons minced fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
1 tablespoon minced fresh tarragon leaves
2 cups panko, ground to a mealy consistency, divided
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground white pepper
1/2 cup clarified butter
Remoulade Sauce:
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon capers, minced
1 cornichon, minced
1 or 2 anchovies, minced
1 shallot, minced
1 teaspoon minced fresh chives
2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley leaves
Salt and freshly ground white pepper
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients until well blended. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Keep refrigerated until needed.
Mayonnaise: Note you can make mayo as follows, but for food safety, I use prepared mayonnaise.
1 egg yolk*
1/8 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground white pepper
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup corn oil
In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, salt, pepper, mustard and lemon juice. Slowly add the oil, whisking all the while until emulsified. Keep refrigerated until needed.
Directions
In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, garlic, rosemary, and paprika. Reduce by half. Allow to cool to room temperature. In a sauté pan, heat the olive oil. Sweat the onions, red and yellow bell pepper until glossy. Transfer to a plate and allow to cool to room temperature. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, crab, jalapeno, basil, parsley, tarragon, 1 cup of ground panko, salt, white pepper, reduced cream, and Sauteed vegetables. Carefully mix until well blended. Scale the mixture into 3-ounce portions. Shape into round, slightly flattened cakes, about 3-inches in diameter by 1/2-inch thick. Coat the crab cakes generously with the remaining panko. In a sauté pan, heat 1/4 cup of clarified butter. Pan fry 6 crab cakes at a time, until golden on 1 side. Turn and transfer to preheated oven and bake for 2 minutes. Repeat the process with the remaining butter and crab cakes.
Serve with Remoulade Sauce.

DENISE'S READING CORNER - Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
|
|
I’ve yet to meet a mother who tells me that “motherhood” is easy. It’s sure not easy for these 2 mothers. Elena Richardson, with her 4 children, is a picture-perfect family and by contrast, Mia Warren, with her daughter Pearl, is a free spirited artist with a mysterious past. Their lives collide in Shaker Heights, Ohio, a wealthy suburb of Cleveland where life is described as the attainment of the American Dream and the author’s hometown. As with many mothers, their lives are intertwined by who their children associate with which may not be their first choice.
If you enjoy novel themes and moral messages such as: motherhood, bravery, togetherness, honesty, independence, discipline, wisdom and diligence, you will like this book. There are also more difficult themes such as surrogacy, child custody, asexuality and abortion. Also, at one point, repelled by what their mother said to their sister, three of Elena’s children set fire to the house!
Ng described writing about her hometown as "a little bit like writing about a relative. You see all of the great things about them, you love them dearly, and yet, you also know all of their quirks and their foibles.”
If you are interested in the movie version of this novel “Little Fires Everywhere”, you can find it on Hulu with an amazing cast: Kerry Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Lexi Underwood and Megan Stott.
