MEET OUR TEAM
Each newsletter, we will be featuring another member of the ML-SAAF team in this space. This month, we'd like to introduce Quincy Santomieri.

As ML-SAAF's Outreach Manager, Quincy has been working tirelessly to build a bridge between ML-SAAF and community organizations, including the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Consulate General of the Philippines, and area churches. His goal is to increase participation in the ML-SAAF and spread awareness of the importance of understanding how Asian American youth develop.

Quincy comes to ML-SAAF from a diverse professional background that includes managing a sporting goods chain and writing copy for a real estate marketing firm. Quincy has also worked with domestic violence victims and served as a teacher in an adult literacy program. When asked how he came to be so invested in ML-SAAF and the well-being of Asian American youth, Quincy answered, "I feel compelled to act anytime there's a situation where our youth are at risk. If we can mitigate that risk, we absolutely should, and the ML-SAAF study clearly can help in that regard."

Quincy's wide-ranging interests and experiences have clearly served him well as he connects with a wide range of community organizations and individuals. Quincy's outreach work has been critical to the success of ML-SAAF, and the ML-SAAF team feels fortunate to count him a member. To learn more about Quincy, visit his LinkedIn page here.

HAVE A STORY TO SHARE?
If you are a parent or youth with thoughts on being Asian in America, we'd love to hear from you! We are inviting essays of 250 words or less on the topic of being Asian in America, to be featured in a future newsletter. The essay should reflect this newsletter's broad audience of academics, parents, youth, and community members. Email your essay to mlsaaf@ssa.uchicago.edu with NEWSLETTER in your subject line. All work accepted for publication will be subject to editing.

ROUND 1 IS COMING TO A CLOSE!
As of June 30, Round 1 of data collection will be closed. As a reminder, ML-SAAF features four rounds of data collection. Round 1 uses in-person interviews, while Rounds 2 through 4 use self-administered surveys. Thanks to all the individuals who participated in Round 1! You are critical to the next three rounds.
Please email mlsaaf@ssa.uchicago.edu or click this link if your contact information has changed.

WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE STUDY?
Curious about our participants? Some preliminary tabulations are below. When viewing the statistics below, keep in mind that females comprised over 95% of Korean parent respondents and over 88% of Filipino parent respondents.

LOOKING AHEAD TO ROUND 2
Though Round 1 is just now coming to a close, the ML-SAAF team is already working hard to prepare for Round 2. For this round, we will be emailing all our participants a link to a self-administered survey later this year/early next year. We are relying on our respondents' continued participation in ML-SAAF. More information coming to your inbox soon!
