Catriona McPherson's

Dandy Gilver Murder Mystery Series

McPherson's award-winning Dandy Gilver series is a delightful journey into the world of historical mystery fiction, filled with charm, wit, and intriguing plots. Set in 1920s and 1930s Scotland, the series follows the adventures of Dandy Gilver, a well-to-do aristocratic sleuth with a sharp mind and a knack for solving mysteries. The attention to detail and the vivid and authentic descriptions capture the essense of the interwar period. The characters themselves are captivating: Dandy Gilver is a wonderfully complex protagonist—clever, resourceful, and fiercely independent, yet also vulnerable and deeply human. And the mysteries are intricately plotted, with twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the very end. McPherson's prose is a joy to read, witty and engaging. With 15 and counting books, this series gives fans of historical fiction plenty to enjoy. Start with book 1, After the Armistice Ball, book 2, The Burry Man’s Day, and book 3, Bury Her Deep.
