Dear Builder/Designer,
summer is almost here, the black flies nearly gone, the phone is ringing, work is flowing and vacation seems like an impossibility. Hmmm.. let's hope that this is a positive sign of things to come!
In this issue we would like to explain why our services not only create new possibilities for simplifying the unusual jobs, but are also a valuable resource for controlling costs and saving time.
Below are a few examples of where our services can really be of benefit:
Extreme Twisted Handrail
Twisted Oversize Handrail

This oversize twisted handrail is actually comprised of two parts  (upper and lower halves) that interlock and were cut on a 5-Axis CNC.
King & Co. stair builders needed it to be made in this way so that the balusters could be screwed down from the rail and still be concealed.
Our combination of unique skills ensure 3 dimensional tangency while keeping "slip-fit" tolerances with such a substantial and  twisted piece, bringing joinery to a whole new level.

Extreme Winder Stair

 Example #2

Beneath it's finished surfaces, this stair was built entirely of steel. Because of the steel structure coupled with a tightly radiused glass balustrade, our skills in both 3D modeling and fabrication became central to this extreme winder stair project by:

 a) Producing a fabrication strategy

 b) Locating the structural steel connections in

       3D space.

 c) Coordinating individual parts for different

fabricators,  i.e. steel, glass and wood.

 d) Providing flattened CAD patterns of the

curved parts for CNC water jet cutting and

       metal rolling.

Exploded Dome Rendering
Exploded Dome Ceiling

This is a good demonstration of how we can help to make a fairly common building/construction project easier to fabricate; simply because it has already been built on the computer piece by piece.
The exploded image is of a dome ceiling with intersecting smaller vaults at opposite ends. The builder needed to make up time, so together with our friends at King & Co., we were able to pre-cut all parts , compound valleys and joints ready and labeled for a quick shop assembly.
