A Tee-riffic Time at Wendell Foster's Golf Scramble! โ›ณ

Our annual Golf Scramble on June 14th, presented by Old National Bank, was a tee-riffic time, "par" usual! This year's event was a huge success, with golfers and businesses coming together for a day of fun and fundraising! Wendell Foster residents served up smiles and snow cones at Hole 10, while the Aktion Club rocked Fifth Player Shots at Hole 18. ๐Ÿง๐ŸŒ๏ธ

Together, we continue to empower people with disabilities! A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and golfers for being such fantastic friends of Wendell Foster. Your support truly makes a world of difference! ๐Ÿ’™

A special thanks to Ben Hawes Golf Course for hosting us, and to our generous sponsors for making the day possible! We can't wait to see everyone back on the course next year!

Each year, the Whitesville Lions Club holds its Chili Supper & Pie Auction benefitting Wendell Foster and Puzzle Pieces. This year's event was a SWEET success, with so many pies, desserts, and other yummy treats being auctioned to support individuals with disabilities.

Wendell Foster was blessed to receive $5,000 in proceeds from the Pie Auction this year! Wendell Foster CEO Doug Hoyt was honored to accept a check from the Lions Club at their June 2nd meeting. We are so honored to be a part of this special event, and for the Lions Club's support of our mission.

Thank you to the Whitesville Lions Club for helping us empower people with disabilities! We can't wait until next year's Pie Auction! ๐Ÿ’™

WF Residents in the Community ๐Ÿค

Our residents at Wendell Foster have a deep love for their community, and enjoy volunteering to make Owensboro an even better place to live. With it being summertime, we've had plenty of opportunities to serve others!

Josh recently began volunteering weekly at the Daviess County Animal Shelter. During his visits, he takes the dogs on walks, plays with the pups, and gives them treats (including frisbees covered in peanut butter). He's had a few run-ins with the cats at the shelter, but admits he's more of a dog person! Visits to the shelter are a highlight of Josh's week, and the shelter's volunteers are just as happy to see him helping out. He's already been the star of the shelter's Facebook page a few times now! We can't wait to see all the fun Josh gets into with his favorite pups this summer! Remember: adopt, don't shop!

Residents spread more love by volunteering with Borrowed Hearts. Borrowed Hearts is a local nonprofit that provides clothing, toys, hygiene products, and other items to children and families in foster care. The organization receives a large number of donated items, and it can be time-consuming to clean and disinfect each donation. Wendell Foster residents stepped in to help! They spent a day cleaning donated strollers that will be gifted to children in need. We are so proud of our residents for this selfless act of kindness!

We want to challenge our newsletter readers to dedicate their summer to helping others! Even small acts of service can make a huge impact in someone's life. We hope our residents inspire you to volunteer for a cause that's close to your heart!

Aktion Club Spotlight ๐ŸŒŸ

Building Beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace ๐Ÿ˜ด

Wendell Foster's Aktion Club, sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Owensboro, participated in a very special service project: building beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nonprofit organization that provides beds for children in the Owensboro area. Volunteers build, deliver, and assemble bunk beds to those in need. The mission of Sleep in Heavenly Peace is that "No kid sleeps on the floor in our town." We think the Aktion Club helped fulfill that mission- they helped build a record-setting 41 beds for children in our community! We are so proud of our Aktion Club for the care and compassion they show others.

Great job, Aktion Club, for springing into "aktion" to help those in need! You are #WFDifferenceMakers! ๐Ÿ’™

First Responders BBQ Returns! โ™จ๏ธ

Presented by WF and CYP

The First Responders BBQ, presented by Wendell Foster and Chamber Young Professionals (CYP), is returning on Thursday, July 18th from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm in the Wendell Foster Sensory Park! We are thrilled to have CYP return as our partner for the BBQ, and we can't wait for some more fun in the sun with our local first responders!

This event is our way of saying THANK YOU to the first responders who serve both Wendell Foster and our community. All Owensboro/Daviess County first responders are invited to join us for a complimentary lunch, yard games, music, giveaways, and more!

Thank you to all of our first responders who make Owensboro a safe place to live! We'll see you on July 18th! ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’

We're Busy Bees! ๐Ÿ

The month of June had us buzzing around like bees! ๐Ÿ’› See what we've been up to:

1. Greta showed off her creative side in the paint splatter room at Wild at Art in Henderson, KY.

2. Dwayne, Branden, and Brooklynne rocked out at CMA Fest!

3. Wayne's favorite activity this summer has been watching the squirrels and birds outside his window. They bring him so much joy!

4. Lauren, Megan, and Paula soaked up the sun at Smothers Park.

5. Rachel's garden has come along nicely! She has grown tomatoes, basil, and parsley.

6. Blake took a dip in the pool at the Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark in Mason, OH.
