Thanks for joining Rockfall's Sustainable Seafood Soirée!

JP Velotti discusses oyster and kelp farming.
We had a great time at our Sustainable Seafood Soir ée last week. The presentation by JP Vellotti of East Coast Kelp Farms was fascinating--the future for kelp farming seems bright!

And the beer, wine, oysters, and kelp appetizers were all delicious. Thanks to the more than 50 friends of Rockfall who could join in our celebration and help raise funds for Rockfall's grantmaking and educational programs!  And thanks so much to our sponsors (below), who helped make our soiree a great success!

Meet our Grantees: CT Audubon Society, Center at Glastonbury

Supported by a 2018 Rockfall Foundation grant, the Connecticut Audubon Society is working to increase environmental literacy for more than 250 students in Middletown and Chester through the organization's Schoolyard Science in Nature program.

This grant is providing tuition to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in the program due to budgetary constraints, provide professional development workshops for 11 participating teachers, and update older equipment for the program at the Center at Glastonbury. The focus of the modules for this project is the Connecticut River Watershed.

And if you haven't listened to Tony talking with Michelle Eckman and Heather Cordula of CT Audubon about this project on his radio show All Things Green, you can listen to the archived program here.
