Workshop with Mary Iselin: Seeing (and Using!) Color and Light in your Oil, Pastel, or Acrylic Painting
June 15, 2024, 10am-4pm, Stone Arch Village, Community Room (Senior Housing Complex), 835 Court Street, Keene, NH (Immediately after Savings Bank of Walpole on the right across from Dunkin Donuts)

In this workshop, we will briefly explore how to see both color and light and explore techniques for using both in our work to enhance interest, excitement, and hopefully, to add that special “magic” that makes painting worthwhile.
Registration fee: $75 for members and $90 for non-members. Deadline for Registration is June 12.
Register
For this Workshop, the presenter and MAAA would like to be sure that no one is excluded due to cost. In the Registration Form (link above), there is a space to request reduced/waived tuition. Make Art at Main Street Studios
Fitchburg, MA
| |
Do you get inspired by fellow artists? Would the company of other creatives motivate you to work on an idea or abandoned project?
Come to Main Street Studios on Tuesday evenings. We have plenty of work space for you to set up with your writing, painting, knitting, etc.
We will socialize for a half hour-ish and then have a quiet hour or two to do the work. If you are inclined to share at the end of the evening - or the end of the summer, you are welcome to do so. But that is not required.
Main Street Studios has coffee/tea/water and maybe a few snacks. There are also options for delivery if you want to order dinner.
The point of this evening is to have fun and employ a little gentle peer pressure to kick aside those creative blocks. If you have any questions, send us a message or leave a comment in the event. You can also email studios@fitchburgculturalalliance.org.

Artist-Preference Housing
Fitchburg Arts Community, Fitchburg, MA
| |
The Fitchburg Arts Community will provide 68 mixed-income, artist-preference apartments in three former historic municipal buildings. NewVue Communities (NewVue) is converting the former BF Brown Middle School (62 Academy Street), the former City Stables, and the former High School Annex (82 Academy Street) into apartments and artist amenities. The project is located across the street from and in partnership with the Fitchburg Art Museum.
Anyone can apply for housing at the Fitchburg Arts Community. However, artists will be given a preference in the housing lottery. To receive this preference an artist must demonstrate they have been active in their work over the past three years.
How the process works:
- Applicants complete the pre-application online
- NewVue will contact all eligible artists with a link to submit materials (letter of interest, 3 work samples, resume, two letters of reference)
- Artists will be assessed on the materials to determine if they should receive the artist-preference in the lottery.
- August 7 the lottery will be held for units in the Fitchburg Arts Community
- Those selected will go through a final verification process with the property manager Wingate.
- January 2025 - units will be ready for tenants to move in.
More detailed information will be coming soon to the NewVue website. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to Samantha deManbey, Artist Tenant Recruiter, at sdemanbey@nvcomm.org with any questions or concerns.
