Hello Angie,

We are looking forward to spending a fun summer with your child here at Especially for Children. We hope to take advantage of the nice weather all summer long! The Creative Curriculum will continue to be our foundation, but you will see the learning activities implemented in a different way over the summer months. For example, a group time may take place at the grassy area, or we may do a writing activity using chalk outside. Our preschool groups will also go for walks and utilize both Centennial Lakes and nearby parks for fun neighborhood fieldtrips. Bike & water days also keep us busy during the summer months!

It's Summer T-Shirt Time! Each year, EFC designs a summer t-shirt for optional purchase to celebrate the season. Check out this year's shirt here. (Quote on back: "We could never have loved the earth so well if we had had no childhood in it." -- George Eliot)

CENTER HAPPENINGS

CENTENNIAL LAKES SHOWS

In the summer, the City of Edina hosts children’s entertainment at 10:30 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Centennial Lakes Park Amphitheater. Our preschool classrooms plan to go to one or two shows per month, weather permitting. We will let you know if your child needs to bring a bag lunch or if a lunch is provided.

DADS, GRANDPAS & OTHER SPECIAL PEOPLE

We want to invite our special dads, grandpas and other special caregivers to join us for Root Beer Floats on Thursday, June 13 4:30-5:30 PM. Come and hang out with us!!

BOUNCE HOUSE

We will have a bounce house at the playground the week of June 17th! We’re hoping for a “bounc-ing” good time!

PRESCHOOL GRADUATION -- LOOKING AHEAD

We will celebrate our Kindergarteners-to-be with a graduation ceremony on Thursday, August 22, at 4:30 PM at the grassy area. PreK parents-- Please plan to join us then!

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations are in order to Ms. Laura, assistant director, who graduated from St. Kates in mid-May with a degree in Educational Foundations with a certificate in Child Advocacy! Congrats, Laura!! In addition, Ms. Melissa (young toddler teacher) received her CDA, and Ms. Mia (Penguin afternoon aide) graduates from high school in early June. Please join us in celebrating their accomplishments!

REV SPORTS SUMMER SESSION

This summer we will be offering a 10-week parent paid soccer option for our preschool classes, starting on June 11. Classes will be held on Tuesdays through mid-August. The registration link was posted in Daily Connect in late May; please let Kristine or Laura know if you need the link again.

UPDATE ON CENTER CLASSES

The Kiddy Keys class will take a well-deserved break over the summer; last class is Tuesday June 11. Coach Nikki & Stretch-n-Grow (typically every other Thursday) and Music with Mr. Kyle (typically every other Monday) will continue classes over the summer but will have a few weeks off due to summer vacations (refer to our monthly calendar for class dates).

FAMILY REMINDERS

LOOKING AHEAD

Especially for Children will be closed on Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day. Enjoy your long weekend!

Our summer program will begin on Monday, June 10. If you are changing your schedule for the summer, please keep in mind that we require a two week notice for any changes.

As the weather warms up, please make sure your child comes to school in closed toed & closed heel shoes for safe outdoor activities. We know that sandals are fun to wear but would appreciate appropriate shoes while at the center. Flip flops are not allowed at EFC.

Please also bring in a bottle of non-aerosol sunscreen (labeled with your child’s first & last name) for your child since we will be going outside more frequently as it warms up. We look forward to a fun outdoor season!!
