Summer is in the air! 

With blue skies, temps in the 70's and the sweet smell of freshly mowed grass, it's a perfect June day. Folks are already calling for tickets to summer shows while an amazing caliber of students continue to register for workshops. The office is buzzing in preparation for good things to come!

Bill Irwin joins Devising Intensive with Special Masterclass

 

We are thrilled to announce that Tony Award winning character actor Bill Irwin will join the roster of special guest teaching artists at this summer's Devising Intensive Workshop.

In addition to working privately with the Devising students, Bill is offering an afternoon masterclass on Thursday, June 24. 

Bill's masterclass will help you find your funny and explore a personal style of movement to create a dance that's uniquely yours!

A Conversation with Aitor

Aitor Basauri is a professional silly man. He is a founder, joint artistic director, and a performer with the outrageous comic ensemble Spymonkey. Along with Numerous European stage credits, he's performed in Cirque du Soleil's "Zumanity," Circus Knie, and formed his own company Punto Fijio, in Bilbao.  In addition to working with clown doctors all over Europe, he is a regular teacher at the Philipe Gaulier school in Paris.

 

Aitor's class at the Barn in 2012 was one of the most transformative experiences I have ever had. It profoundly affected the way I work as a clown, and really made my life more fun. I learned to take pleasure in being ridiculous before rows of people, and not be ashamed of it. In his workshop, you learn to trust your instincts, and embrace your mistakes instead of fearing them, while getting comfortable with your spontaneous self.  This makes for an incredibly rewarding experience.
