June News & Updates

Each June, National Safety Month focuses on enhancing awareness to reduce preventable injuries and deaths. This observance emphasizes topics like workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and fall prevention at home and work.

Employers and communities participate by conducting safety training, sharing resources, and encouraging proactive measures. Activities such as first aid workshops and emergency drills aim to instill and emphasize a culture of safety consciousness.

By engaging in National Safety Month, individuals and organizations contribute to creating safer environments, promoting well-being, and protecting lives.

Why You Should Up Your Training Game:

Continuing our series on the importance of continual improvement in training and use of adult learning theory, we present Part II - Engaging Evaluation for Active Learning.

Training developed and delivered with adult learning theory (ALT) at its core aligns with the unique characteristics and needs of adult learners. This month, we focus on confirmation of learning:

Engaging Evaluation for Active Learning

At The Safety Council of SWLA, we believe that assessments should do more than just measure knowledge; they should actively engage learners in the learning process, because engagement promotes retention. That's why we utilize interactive assessments that go beyond traditional quizzes and tests. Our assessments are designed using a combination of tasks, quizzes, and simulations to create an immersive learning experience.

Interactive assessments are crucial because they promote active learning. Instead of passively absorbing information, learners are challenged to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. This not only reinforces learning but also helps identify areas where additional training may be needed.

By incorporating various types of interactive assessments into our courses, we not only improve engagement but also enhance retention rates, leading to more effective training outcomes.

Join us at The Safety Council of SWLA -- experience the power of interactive assessments in driving active learning and skill development!
