from "Back to Nature"
Hello dear friends and clients,

As some of you know, my birthday was last month and I was so moved by the cards, flowers and good wishes. Birthdays give us a point to stop and take stock of our path. I feel I am doing exactly what I should be and want to be doing...loving the Flathead Valley and helping my clients achieve their goals.

With that said, I'm not the only one who loves the Flathead. We seem to be having another banner year of listing, selling and new buyers. A little rain this past week is (hopefully) insurance that we will be wild-fire free later in the summer. There's a ton of activities going on in the Flathead this summer, click here for a rundown.

Check out the status my properties below. They are well-priced and super cool. If you have been thinking of selling, buying, up or down sizing, I strongly encourage you to act now. Homes are not staying on the market very long. For an in depth breakdown of the past year's Bigfork market, click here . In a nutshell, list prices and sale prices are UP.

Our beautiful NPR showcase publication, "Welcome Home," will be out at the end of this month so look for it on Valley stands or stop by the office, grab one and say hello! If you have recently cancelled, withdrawn your listing or it has expired, contact me. We'll get it listed and sold! My experience, consistent record and excellent negotiating skills will successfully lead you toward a sale at the right price. Call, text or email me. We'll have dinner (I have an in with the local sushi joint).

See you soon and cheers!  Denise

We owned a home that we loved on Holland Creek. Just a short distance from beautiful Holland Lake. Unfortunately because of health problems and frequent visits to Doctors in Missoula we found it necessary to sell. We listed with a local office and were extremely disappointed with the lack of showings and interest they generated. We tried another local REALTOR with the same results. Neither office did much to keep us advised as to any progress. We decided to list with Denise to see what she could do. What a difference! We heard from Denise or her associates frequently. Her websites seemed to generate a lot of interest. She listed our home in the fall and it was show to prospects more time that fall, winter and spring than it had been shown by the local REALTORS in the previous three years. Because of her professional photographer a prospect from Washington saw our home and made his offer to purchase without even a visit. Needless to say we recommend anyone contemplating a sale of their property to call Denise. 1st home, forever home and baby boomers....(click on the photo)
A trend has emerged, particularly among younger millennial buyers: More and more are forgoing the traditional starter home and going right for that dream home with more bedrooms and a higher price tag.
According to Trulia, a growing number of baby boomers are choosing to stay in the same sprawling house where they raised kids avoiding “downsizing.” until later in life and contributing to a housing shortage.

NASA posted this photo of Flathead Lake from space on April 29th. How gorgeous is this land we call home? This makes me just love (and appreciate) where I live!
Just for the birds!

Grow your own bird feeding garden. Feeding the birds can be rewarding, but it can be expensive, too. Rather than spending money on birdseed, why not grow the plants that provide food for birds? Some flowers birds like are: Coreopsis, Cosmos, Goldenrod, Marigold and Zinnia

Denise's Kitchen Corner... Primavera With Prosciutto, Asparagus and Carrots

Kosher salt
1 pound penne or farfalle
1 pound asparagus spears, stems trimmed, cut into 1 1/2-inch lengths
1 large carrot, cut into matchsticks
1 cup snap peas
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
8 ounces sliced prosciutto, jamon iberico or other high-quality ham, diced
1 large shallot, sliced 1/8 inch thick
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup chicken stock, preferably homemade or low-sodium store-bought
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Bring a pot of water to a boil, salt it generously and cook the pasta for 8 minutes; add the asparagus, carrot and snap peas and cook for 3 minutes. Check the pasta and vegetables to make sure they're cooked through but still have texture, then drain. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large sauté pan, add the ham and shallot and cook until lightly browned, 3 minutes or so. Add the garlic and pepper flakes and cook until fragrant, 1 minute. Add the cream, stock and mustard and simmer for a minute or two, scraping up any brown bits. Add the pasta and vegetables to the pan. Toss and cook for another 2 minutes, until cooked through and the pasta is coated. Taste for seasoning, add salt if necessary and serve immediately in warm bowls.
Denise's Book Corner..." Recursion" by Blake Crouch

One of my favorite sayings is “The greatest gift we can leave our loved ones are happy memories.” But what if those memories are fabricated, distorted, or misinterpreted? Then you have False Memory Syndrome , an affliction that drives a person crazy with memories of a life they never lived. Crouch’s third book in his trilogy is, to me, the most fascinating and complex. This Sci Fi thriller has to do with the concept that Memories Create Reality. The question is, do changed memories alter the past?

NYPD Detective Barry Sutton unsuccessfully tries to talk Ann Voss Peters off the edge of the Poe Building as she claims to have False Memory Syndrome . This tragedy prompts him to dive deeper with his investigation leading him to a mysterious place called Hotel Memory (you’ll have to read the book to figure that one out)! Anyway, he makes a life-altering discovery and in the process falls for a brilliant (though slightly broken) neuro-scientist, Helena Smith. She has dedicated her life to creating a technology that will let people preserve their most precious memories, like a first kiss, the birth of a child, or the final moment with a dying parent.
The book has fast moving dialogue which makes it a quick read and I love the "X-Files" feel to it. Remember…“the truth is out there.” I only wish I had read it with a book club because it is a stimulating one to discuss. Read it with a friend for some summer fun! And definitely read it before it goes on Netflix.
