News & Notes: June 2018
Wow, June was a month buzzing with activity both at CAC and wherever we traveled across the country! Our kids attended two camps, began summer STEAM programming, traveled to Colorado and Kansas, and have thoroughly enjoyed all of the fun that comes with summer! Keep reading to learn more about what's happening in the lives of the world's best kids!
It's Summer Camp Season!
Last week CAC sent two groups of kids to camp-- one group attended Camp Penuel (~70 kids) and the other attended Kids Across America (~30 kids). As always, the experience was life changing, and it's all thanks to your generous support!

At Camp Penuel the kids were able to go swimming and hiking, enjoy devotions and singing, and strengthen their relationship with God in the peace and sirrinity of His beautiful creation. Did we mention that they had lots of fun too?

At Kids Across America our youth joined hundreds of other kids from Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arkansas and Illinois as they got "hyped" for the Lord. KAA is a faith based camp that builds Christian leaders by encouraging, equipping and empowering urban youth though sports, education, swimming, archery, tubing, high ropes courses and dance. During the Crosstalk, all of our children accepted or rededicated themselves to the Lord. At the closing ceremony, several of our teens won awards in volleyball, leadership, cleanest cabin, dancing, and the 110% award given for going above and beyond.

Relationships were cultivated. Confidence was increased and faith was strengthened. One 9th grader left saying, "KAA was inspiring and it renewed my soul". We look forward to tripling our campers next year by sending our 4th and 5th grade students!

The best part is, this isn't it! We still have a few more camps to attend and look forward to sharing more stories throughout the summer!

It's hard to believe that school is right around the corner! There's nothing more important than sending children back to the classroom with all of the supplies and tools they need to be successful. Help us to equip our children with our annual back to school giveaway! You can shop for children in a specific grade level, donate school supplies in bulk, or make a monetary contribution and we will do the shopping for you! We ask that all supplies be dropped off by July 31st!
Lots of fun in the Rockies!
CAC took a trip to Colorado at the end of June and oh what fun we had! The main task at hand was to reach the top of Quandary Peak, which stands at 14,265 feet and is a little south of the tourist old mining town of Breckenridge. Although 6 of the 11 members did in fact summit, the rest were able to summit in their own way. On our hike we saw mountain goats, beautiful mountains, marmots, and experienced just how awesome our God is!

In addition to the mountain, we attended the Colorado Rockies vs. the San Fransisco Giants baseball game-- what a blessing!

Our time was filled with loving and being loved by the body of Christ in Denver, Colorado and Lucas, Kansas. We stayed with Andre and Jenna Wolf in Denver, who are college friends of Matt and enjoyed playing backyard games, going to church with them, eating at Pieology, and doing lots of laughing. On our way back we stayed at the Horseshoe Lodge in Lucas, Kansas. We were so blessed by Lucas United Methodist Church-- they fed us, took us to enjoy the clearest lake in Kansas (Wilson Lake) and showed us around all the fun tourist places in the city.

Without them and others that support the CAC this trip would not of been possible. We are already talking about our wilderness adventure for 2019! We are not sure where we will be, but we do know is that being together, marveling at how big our Creator God is, and experiencing new things is something worth doing!

A hole in one!
A huge thank you to everyone who attended the 12th Annual Golf for a Brighter Future tournament on June 1st! It was our largest tournament to date with 116 golfers who raised $61,680! We are deeply appreciative to everyone who gave, including our corporate sponsors, and we express sincere gratitude to the entire team at Northwestern Mutual for putting the event together.
