PROOF WE CAN'T SATISFY THEM ALL

50/50 SPLIT ON MEETING LIKES & DISLIKES

In last month's DPM newsletter, we provided a poll to gain a stronger understanding of the opinions of certain meeting aspects. Instead of trying to explain, I'll simply copy/paste below and provide the results.

GOOD NEWS! WE HAD OVER 1,000 DPMS PARTICIPATE IN THE POLL!

BAD NEWS...

I was hoping for some landslide wins for one choice over the other that would help our profession recognize where we can make some changes based on these needs. Cue the sad music.

Unfortunately nearly every question resulted in a split decision....

I recently read an article from MEETINGSNET.com that provided some pretty interesting insight about how health care providers feel about conferences, both in-person and online.

Below are their statements and I am curious to know,

DO YOU AGREE?

Take a moment to read each statement and provide a quick response as to whether you are in agreement with those that were interviewed for MEETINGSNET.

“Most of us never want to travel on Monday or Friday, so midweek events with travel time accounted for on both sides are best.”

55% AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT ABOVE

45% DO NOT AGREE

"The length of a virtual session is important to keeping HCPs both engaged in the moment and willing to participate in future events. A two-hour session is about the max.”

52% AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT ABOVE

48% DO NOT AGREE

"Keep virtual events within preferable times of day for HCPs (health care providers) scattered around North America; maybe you split the meeting into two sessions, with physicians from only two time zones in each session."

49% AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT ABOVE

51% DO NOT AGREE

“I’ve seen a lot of 9-to-10 p.m. virtual programs work well. The HCPs have their family-dinner time and settle the kids in, and then they can focus.”

53% AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT ABOVE

47% DO NOT AGREE

MEETING TRENDS

MIS IS HOT

In this month's DPM newsletter, I noted that MIS seems to be a popular scientific trend at the moment. In fact, there are 4 upcoming events focusing on this subject matter:

July 19 - 20 | Rosemont, IL | 12 CE

IMIFAS Cadaver Lab

July 26-27 | Online | 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™

Rearfoot-Forefoot MIS Surgical Conference

September 28-29 | Chicago, IL | 16 CECH

ACPPS Cadaver Lab Workshop

October 11-12 | New Orleans, LA | 10 CECH

AMIFAS MIS Cadaver Lab Masters Course

As you're preparing your next meeting, be sure to consider if this is fleeting, or if it is something that will be greatly missed if your agenda doesn't have an MIS track.

Last year, it seemed as though PEDIATRICS was the hot topic.

SO - how can we predict what's coming next?

Obviously as I am not a DPM, I may not have the answers, but I will share some of my predictions as an "outsider/insider" that you can take or leave as you prepare your scientific content for future meetings.

  • DIRECT CARE
  • LYMPHEDEMA
  • ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
  • CONCIERGE CARE
  • ADD-ON CODES & MODIFIERS (G211 AND M25)

I VOTE "YES!" FOR FOOD TRUCKS

Two summers ago Ann and I went to the North Coast Foot & Ankle Symposium at Kent State and I saw something I had never seen at a meeting before - a food truck! Food trucks are in my TOP 10 of all-time favorite things on this earth.

Food choices are always a challenge at meetings - so I wanted to simply share my reaction to the food truck (FOOD TRUCKS ROCK!) at Kent State and share the article below:

AI IS AGING ME

I'm going to be blatantly honest - I am finally starting to feel old when it comes to some of the new advances in technology.

Up to this point, I have either been highly active in adopting new technology, or been able to catch on faster than most with anything new that's hitting the market. I have to say, however, that all of the AI conversations are starting to overwhelm me.

ARE YOU IN THE SAME BOAT? Then let's check out this article together!
