Wishing Everyone a Safe and Happy 4th of July!

Fireworks are Illegal in Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County is a 'fireworks-free zone'. All fireworks, regardless of type or labeling, are illegal in Contra Costa County. Remember, there are no "Safe & Sane" fireworks. They are all dangerous and uncontrollable. The fireworks ordinance Chapter 44-2 of the County Ordinance Code, and numerous city ordinances have strengthened enforcement abilities. This includes the unincorporated areas as well as the cities. Residents are urged to report all use of illegal fireworks immediately to their local law enforcement agency’s non-emergency phone line.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District also announced a toll-free hotline to report illegal fireworks use in the County: 1-833-885-2021.

Supervisor Andersen Welcomes Summer Intern

The District 2 office is delighted to welcome Sami Tripasuri, an incoming freshman at UC Berkeley, planning to study Political Science and Public Policy. Her interests in these subjects’ stem from her passion for supporting the community by advocating for equity within all groups. She served as a member on the San Ramon Teen Council, where she worked under the Social Media Ad Hoc Committee to promote teen involvement and activities in the community. She was the Editor-in-Chief of her high school newspaper, The Californian, and plans to continue pursuing journalism at Cal.

As an intern at Supervisor Andersen’s office, she hopes to learn about the efforts and work put in at a district level to keep our communities running while gaining experience with local government office duties.

Democracy Dialogues

The Contra Costa County Elections office is partnering with high school students from the county to interview local elected officials.

Supervisor Andersen interviewed with Komal, a rising junior at Miramonte High School in Orinda on June 26th. Through this interview series, the elections department is working to give future leaders an opportunity to learn more about positions in local politics and shed light on the important and oftentimes under-appreciated work our local elected officials do.
