New Resource on Integrating Neurodivergent K-12 Students and Staff into School Emergency Management Planning

The REMS TA Center has released a new fact sheet, Integrating Neurodivergent K-12 Students and Staff into School Emergency Management Planning. The fact sheet lists common forms of neurodivergence, discusses identifying neurodivergent needs, and discusses considerations for communication and sensory needs during trainings and emergencies.

NTAC Offering Virtual Training Presentations on Targeted Violence Prevention

The U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) is offering 6 virtual training presentations on targeted violence prevention, with 3 sessions catered towards educators and schools safety stakeholders and 3 sessions catered towards law enforcement and community safety stakeholders. Enhancing School Safety Using Behavioral Threat Assessment is being held on July 11th, September 12th, and November 20th. Preventing Mass Attacks in Our Communities is being held on August 7th, October 1st, and December 18th.

Site Safety Security Assessment in Mason City

There's still time to register for the Site Safety Security Assessment class on July 23, 2024, in Mason City, IL. The training provides awareness resources and preparedness training to enhance organizational capacity to conduct multidisciplinary site assessments. The process of conducting a school site safety security assessment creates opportunities to reduce or eliminate potential hazards and develop recommendations for improvement.
