CHOOSE THE NEXT HONORARY MAYOR OF EASTSOUND!

For over a decade, the Orcas Island community has elected a local pet to be its honorary mayor. The mayor’s race is a light-hearted community fundraiser benefiting Orcas Island Children’s House, an infant-toddler center and preschool.

Candidates, along with their campaign managers, rally as many votes as they can in the four-weeks timeframe—which begins in June and ends on Fourth of July weekend. The pet with the most votes is then announced as the island’s honorary mayor and given the key to the island until the next race!

Each vote is $1. You can vote online, via text, or just stop by our booth at the Saturday farmer’s market to vote in person. All funds raised support Orcas Island Children’s House, and help keep early childhood education available and affordable for island families.

SHARE YOUR IDEAS WITH THE HALL!

ODD FELLOWS KITCHEN INPUT SURVEY

The Hall’s kitchen has been an asset and in use for many years by food service providers and for catering of events held in the Hall. Recently deep cleaned and painted, it is certified as a commercial kitchen. Moving forward, we are seeking input from community members who are interested in utilizing the kitchen and Hall, on what additional improvements would help meet various needs and uses so we can determine how to plan and fund possible expansions of use.

June is our month for inviting community, and potential Kitchen and Hall users, to share their ideas. We are interested in gathering your input, through an online survey and at a Conversation Café at the Odd Fellows Hall on Tuesday, June 18 from 6-8pm.

The online survey link (also online at www.oddshall.org) closes on June 25. We will share initial survey feedback, and generate recommendations and guidance for potential upgrades and opportunities, on June 18. You can join us in person, or by Zoom. Register for Zoom Link
