IAED Attends NYSEDC Annual Meeting in Cooperstown



IAED’s President, Heather McDaniel, and Director of Business Services, Kellea Bauda, attended the NYS Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) annual meeting in Cooperstown from May 22-24. The duo attended panels on site selection, energy and infrastructure, workforce, and the global reach of economic development. Heather has been a member of NYSEDC’s Board of Directors since 2019.

LeChase Wins Award


LeChase Construction was named Engineering News Record’s (ENR) 2024 New York Contractor of the Year. The Rochester-based firm was also #110 of ENR’s Top 400 Contractors nationwide, recognized for its culture, partnerships, diversified services, and community engagement. Some of LeChase's notable recent projects include the Cornell University CIS Building, Strong National Museum of Play expansion, and United Health Services Wilson Medical Center modernization. LeChase is a long-standing partner of IAED's and a Silver-level investor.

| FUNDING

Grant Funding Available through Round XIV Economic Development Initiative


Representatives of the Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council held a workshop at Cinemapolis on June 20th to review the myriad grants available through the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) process in Governor Hochul’s Round XIV Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.

 

“We have been doing this for 14 years. Other states are now mimicking our programs, so we’re doing something right,” stated Judy McKinney-Cherry, Executive Director of Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development and Co-Chair of the Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council.

 

Funding is available in the areas of workforce development and employee retention, small manufacturer modernization, certified Pro-Housing Communities, and more.


| TRAINING

Now Enrolling for IAED’s Pathways to Manufacturing Summer Cohort


IAED is now accepting applications for enrollment for the Pathways to Manufacturing program scheduled to run from July 29th–August 23rd.


The Pathways to Manufacturing program is a full-time, four-week training program to equip people with the technical skills needed by area manufacturers. Upon completion, participants get a one-time $500 stipend, guaranteed interview with a participating manufacturer of their choice, and sit for the Certified Manufacturing Associate exam.

Call for Presenters: Manufacturing and Development Expo (MADE)


Thursday, October 10, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.  

Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3), Dryden, NY 

 

The annual MADE event gives area manufacturers a unique opportunity to connect with local youth, showcase your work, and highlight available careers. Representatives from your organization will meet with groups of students throughout the event and present interactive displays and activities.


 

MADE is a collaboration between IAED, TC3, Alliance for Manufacturing & Technology, Tompkins County Workforce Development Board, Tompkins Workforce NY, TST BOCES, Cortland Works Career Center, and Cayuga-Cortland Workforce Development Board.
