FY 25 Cover Crop Fact Sheet

Cover Crop Referral Program

To help Delaware meet its water quality goals of 240,000 acres of cover crops statewide, SCD launched a new cover crop referral program. SCD will pay $500 to the referring farmer, and to each new farmer that enrolls and completes the pilot program.

Delaware Conservation Partnership at the State Fair

Planning is underway for the Delaware Conservation Partnership (DCP) display at the 2024 Delaware State Fair!

Located in the air-conditioned DDA Commodities Building, the DCP display plays off the 2024 Stewardship Week theme, “May the Forest Be with You, Always.”

This theme underscores the critical interplay between soil and water conservation and the resilience of our forests. Forests play multifaceted roles in sustaining our planet, serving as sources of oxygen, carbon storage, and vibrant hubs of biodiversity. They function as steadfast protectors of soil and water resources, preventing erosion, purifying contaminants, and nurturing healthy watersheds.

The Delaware Conservation Partnership is the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Delaware Association of Conservation, Districts, New Castle Conservation District, Kent Conservation District, and Sussex Conservation District.

ACRE Delmarva

Alternative Crops & Renewable Energy (ACRE) Delmarva has been awarded a grant through the USDA and is currently seeking new farmer partners to test the efficacy of adding plant material to an anaerobic digestion process. Farmer partners will be financially compensated for participation in the project.
