Programs are available to all senior activity center members and those 55 years of age and older. Programs are offered by all county senior activity centers.

Current Events With Susann Felton

Thursdays 6/1 through 6/8 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM


Join Susann Felton as she leads a lively discussion of current events on Thursdays from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Topics will be presented for discussion prior to each class meeting. The class will be hybrid; meeting will take place in person at the South County Senior Activity Center and virtually via Zoom.

Chair Yoga Class With Linda McGill

Mondays 6/5 through 6/26 from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM


Taught by Linda McGill, this class is designed for relaxation. You will experience deep, rhythmic breathing accompanied by simple stretches in a safe and comfortable setting.

Zentangle Inspired Art: Dangles and Tangles

Mondays 6/5 through 6/12 & 6/26 from 10:00 AM to 2:15 PM


This playful three-session Zoom course, instructed by Julie Allison, CZT, will find you creating whimsical droplets dangling from tangled structures in unexpected ways and directions! The class will create multiple compositions and explore lettering in this fun style! Different tangled structures will be explored in preparation for the last session’s final piece of art. Come and join in the fun! There is no fee for the class, but registration is required. A supply list will be available for those who register for the class.

Chair Exercise With Debbie Halley

Wednesdays 6/7 through 6/28 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM


Do you have physical restrictions that make it difficult to exercise? Take this free chair exercise class for chair strength training! Debbie Halley leads this class, which starts with a seated warm-up. She will then guide you through a variety of seated and stationary standing exercises (using the chair for support if needed) that are designed to strengthen every muscle in your body!

Free Caregiver Educational Workshops

Cruise Through Caregiving: How To Reduce The Stress of Caring For A Loved One

On a scale of 0-100, is your stress level 150? Caregiving for a loved one who has acute or chronic illness is no vacation…but you can choose to cruise more smoothly through the process. This presentation will help family caregivers identify some of the major stressors involved in caregiving. Attendees will leave this presentation with strategies on how to minimize, manage, and prevent the stress of caregiving following the CRUISE methods based on the book Cruising Through Caregiving: Reducing the Stress of Caring for Your Loved One.


The Dementia Live® Experience

Hein Office 7320 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie


This workshop is a high impact, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it is like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. Space is limited at each session.
