Hello
Frederick has lost a pioneer leader for African American heritage here in Frederick with the recent death of David Key – the longtime President of AARCH – African American Resource and Cultural Heritage. I was proud to call David a friend and colleague, and feel fortunate for his tireless work to bring the rich Frederick African American story to life through a future cultural center and museum here in a building provided by the City. We have all learned from David the lessons of hard work, perseverance and humility– but mostly we learned about his life and the live’s of countless other African-Americans who helped build this City we call home. I am confident that David’s spirit will be with the AARCH team as they bring this incredible vision to life and will help continue to be a light for peace, respect, and equity in our community. The City stands ready to help make his vision a reality.
