JUNE 15, 2023

On Sunday we recognize all the fathers and those who have taken that role in our lives! Thank you for your care!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Another incredible Vacation Bible School wrapped up a couple hours ago. Thanks to all the incredible leaders, volunteers, and campers who made this such a special week! Watch a recap HERE!

BORDERLANDS PRODUCE RESCUE

Volunteers are needed to pack food boxes of approximately 70lbs that we share for a $15 donation. This is a great chance to spend time in the Arcadia neighborhood, interact with neighbors, reduce food waste and bring healthy food to local families. Our next event is this Saturday, June 17, starting bright and early at 4:30am (and done by 9:30). If you’re interested, please email Amy.

SNOW CONE SUNDAY

This Sunday, June 18, is Snow Cone Sunday! Kids who participated in VBS get a free snow cone! Also, in celebration of Father’s Day, all dads get a free snow cone too! These cool treats cost $1 and proceeds benefit the Project Hope Clean Water Well Project. Learn more about this special mission at: dayspring-umc.org/project-hope.

RACIAL JUSTICE CHALLENGE

On Juneteenth (May 19), the UMC’s General Commission on Religion and Race is launching a six-week Racial Justice Prayer & Action Challenge! This year audio recordings of the prayers in English, French, Spanish, and Tagalog are included in the experience. Check out all the resources and register for RJPAC reminders (and the GCORR newsletter) HERE

VIP: ORGANIZING FOR CHANGE

Valley Interfaith Project's three-part training series concludes Tuesday, June 20, from 6 to 8pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Phoenix. See the flyer HERE for topics and the church address. Sign up at the table on the patio this Sunday, or email Nancy. Carpool will meet at Dayspring at 5:15pm. Core team members are encouraged to attend, and anyone interested in learning more about how VIP works is welcome.

MOMS' FELLOWSHIP

Open to all moms in search of a kid-free night out, the Dayspring Moms Group will meet for dinner and conversation on Friday, June 23 at 7:00pm. Email Andrea for the location, to RSVP, or with questions.

MONTHLY TAIZÉ SERVICE

The next Taizé Service will be held in Fellowship Hall on Sunday, June 25 at 4pm. This is a time of quiet, meditative prayer and simple music, allowing the mystery of God to become known through the beauty of simplicity.

RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION

Pastor Mike Long, our new associate beginning July 1, is looking for a dependable used car for sale. If you or someone you know might have any leads, please email our SPRC chair Tom Swift. Thank you!

LAST SUNDAY & ONLINE ISSUES

For the first time in quite a while, we had serious technical issues during Sunday's service, causing us to lose Pastor Joel's final message to us at Dayspring. Thankfully, we recovered nearly all of the rest of the service and Pastor Joel was gracious enough to re-record his message. HERE is the link to last week's complete service.

This Sunday's Message:

Not Guilty by Reason of Compassion

Matthew 12:1-14

Pastor Jeff Procter-Murphy

at 10:00 at Dayspring Tempe
