Fundraisers

Volleyball Alberta's casino is scheduled for July 13 & 14, 2024 in Edmonton at the Grand Villa Casino (downtown ICE District in Rogers Place). In past cycles, VA’s Executive Council, Board of Directors, Referees, Club Members, VA Staff, Friends, & Family have been very gracious in offering some time to help with this program, and we're hoping some of you are able to sign up for a shift or two. If you live outside of Edmonton but may know someone in the area who could work a shift, please forward them this information. Included in the “sign up link” is a schedule indicating positions, shifts and availability. Please sign up today! We are looking for 18 adults on both days. Proceeds from the casino will go to aid Volleyball Alberta programs as approved by the AGLC. More information is posted on our website's latest news story: Call for Casino Volunteers

BEACH TOURNAMENTS

Beach season has been both crazy and awesome so far this year! We have blown away our previous year's registrations. We have been expanding the beach tournaments into multiple locations and cities this year! We are moving into our fourth weekend and will have a brief break before heading back to Sylvan! We have seen great volleyball action and excellent sportsmanship, keep up the great work!

We are currently working on increasing capacity in the beach tournaments even more in hopes of getting more teams participating. Although this has been challenging, we have been working very hard to achieve this goal. As mentioned, we have two weeks of Sylvan tournaments coming up in July, and then back to Calgary where we will host two separate provincial events.

This has also been the first year we brought back adult tournaments to the beach scene. Although registrations are low, we are looking forward to the June 22-23 weekend for our first adult beach tournament since 2019.

Thanks to all the parents and athletes for creating a need for beach development. We are eager and excited to watch this sport grow!

Insurance

As of May 3, 2024, please be advised that Volleyball Alberta has recently changed its Insurance Broker to NFP Canada Corp. The limits of liability and coverage remain the same with K&K. New certificates are available for the 2024-2025 term, expiring 2025/06/01.

As of June 1st, 2024, we are now accepting certificate of insurance requests for the 2024/2025 season from registered clubs. We ask that clubs submit 1 form with their full list of potential gym rentals needing to be named on the COI in the initial request to lessen the number of emails we need to relay to the insurance office and to speed up the process and turnaround time. The COI request form link can be found on our website > About > Insurance > expand the COI section banner. When listing the facility, city/town, and school board (specific schools do not need to be named; naming the School Board includes all of its schools), please make sure the certificate holder’s Name, Address and Postal Code are included for each. Additional COIs may be requested throughout the season.
