A message from our Executive Director

Dear Friends,

It’s been a bit since I've had the opportunity to share all the wonderful happenings here at Girls Inc. of Carpinteria! We’ve had a busy few months, and I’m excited to catch you up on our recent activities and achievements.

Inaugural Fuel Her Fire Event

In April, we hosted our inaugural Fuel Her Fire event, which was an incredible success. The energy and enthusiasm from our community were truly inspiring. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us make this event unforgettable.

Celebrating 160 Years of Girls Inc.

In May, we proudly celebrated 160 years of Girls Inc. programming across the nation. This milestone reminds us of the enduring impact of our mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. We reflected on the remarkable achievements of our girls and the difference we make together. Thank you again to our local partners who generously contributed a portion of their proceeds during Girls Inc. Week and to all of you who donated towards the Girls Inc. Together collaborative fundraiser! Your enthusiasm and support has helped us lift up the voices of our girls and provide them with the necessary resources to prepare for the future they envision.

Pride Month: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

June is Pride Month, and we are proud to stand as an ally organization, committed to supporting and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. At Girls Inc. of Carpinteria, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where every girl feels seen, heard, and valued. Read more about our commitment below.

What’s Next?

As we move into June, we have a lot more in store. We’re kicking off our summer camps, Eureka! program, and athletic enrichment opportunities. These programs are designed to keep our girls engaged, learning, and growing throughout the summer. Think of it as summer vacation with a turbo boost!

Additionally, we’re excited about the campus renovations happening, including a full kitchen remodel (because who doesn't love a good before-and-after?), a multi-purpose room remodel, and new fencing to enhance the safety and security of our facility. We promise the construction noises are just the sounds of progress!

Thank you for being part of the Girls Inc. of Carpinteria family. Together, we are creating a new generation of leaders!

Warm regards,

Jamie Collins

Executive Director

June is Pride Month

Girls Inc. knows how crucial it is for young people to have safe spaces in which they can learn and grow. We stand with LGBTQIA+ youth and continue to advocate for the rights and dignity of girls and all youth – especially those disproportionately impacted by harassment, violence, and trauma.

Girls have a right to positive, supportive environments and linkages to community resources for understanding and learning about issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. All young people deserve a safe and supportive school environment, a life free from discrimination, and the right to show up as their authentic selves. As a core pillar of the Girls Inc. Girls’ Bill of Rights, we believe girls have the right to have confidence in themselves and to be safe in the world.

LGBTQIA+ youth are already at significantly increased risk for mental health disorders and suicide because they are too often mistreated and stigmatized by society. Laws that increase stigma, limit access to medical care, and even criminalize social and gender identity are, quite simply, bad for children, families, and communities. Youth who identify as LGBTQIA+ or who are exploring their sexual orientation and/or gender identity need to know that Girls Inc. is a safe space where they can be themselves and not worry about experiencing hurtful treatment from others.

Here are some helpful LGBTQIA+ youth resources anytime
