Volunteer Update
July 31, 2019
Thank you to ALL our volunteers for working together and with us to serve our community so well this summer! We think you're swell!

We have many volunteers who take much-needed and well-deserved breaks in the summer. When that happens, we rely on other volunteers to step in to fill the gaps and ensure that all of our valuable services continue. Thank you to all our volunteers who step in to fill gaps in the summer months!
July Happenings
Representing CRC at Petco Park

JustServe is an organization that CRC partners with to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities to the community. JustServe honored CRC's work and that partnership at Petco Field on July 13! Thank you to our Board President, Katrina Dodson, who represented CRC during the pre-game activities. She then watched the game from behind home plate!
Congratulations to our 40 new Domestic Violence Prevention Advocates!

Each year, CRC offers a comprehensive 40-hour Domestic Violence Prevention Advocate Training class and the 2019 class was held during May and June. Expert speakers from across San Diego County offered presentations on domestic violence issues related to trauma, the law and prosecution, immigration, sexual assault, the military, stalking and more. Participants in the class include CRC volunteers and new staff; professionals in our community and graduate students; women and men. Some will use this training for volunteer or paid work in organizations including CRC that offer domestic violence services and some will use it in other work or volunteer capacities, but all of the 40 dedicated participants have the knowledge to be life-long advocates for couples, families and communities free from domestic violence.
Thank you, Hope for San Diego!

An amazing group of volunteers from Hope for San Diego came out on Saturday, July 27 to donate their volunteer service to CRC. They did a deep clean of our Food and Nutrition Center, pulled expired food, and did painting projects. Thank you Hope for San Diego for your compassion for those in need and your partnership with CRC!
Volunteer Spotlight
Congratulations to our July Volunteer of the Month: Liz Morrisette

Our Holiday Baskets Program requires more than 2,000 volunteer shifts and many “captains” who work year-round to ensure that it succeeds. While school was winding down and many of us were gearing up for summer, Liz Morrisette was driving around to pick up coats left in school lost and founds. She then washed, and is now storing, the coats to be handed out to the 6,000 individuals who come to the Del Mar Fairgrounds during the CRC Holiday Baskets event in December. Thanks to the behind-the scenes work that Liz does (she has volunteered 100 hours already in 2019!), thousands of children will have a warmer winter.
Meet our behind-the-scenes social media volunteer, Janene Forman!

Do you recognize this social media post? If you follow CRC's Resale Stores on Facebook or Instagram , you are probably familiar with Janene Forman’s work – even if you’ve never met her!

Janene volunteers behind-the-scenes to help promote CRC's Resale Stores. She takes photos of items in the stores, creates fun ads and does posts about store sales and discounts multiple times a week. In addition, Janene helps out in our Development department with special mailings, special events registration and posting promotions for fundraising events. We couldn't do it all without Janene's awesome efforts!

Be sure to follow our Resale Stores on Facebook and Instagram!
