Summer Social Media Campaign
Throughout the summer we will be featuring different animals on our social media who call each of your 9 parks home. We started off by learning about the Saw Whet Owls who call Harrison Hills home. We also featured the Monarch Butterfly, whose favorite habitat is the meadows of Boyce Park. The goals of this campaign are to raise awareness for our ecological work and to help raise money to protect the habitats these animals depend on. Be on the lookout for the rest of the animals and parks this summer by following us on Facebook and Instagram!

Stream Assessments
We are working with the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program of Allegheny County to complete ecological stream assessments in all 9 county parks over a three-year period. These stream studies complement our ecological work by diving deeply into the condition of the streams through the assessment of their chemistry, macro-invertebrate biological community and physical condition using standardized procedures over a one-year period in each park. Phase One, which studied Hartwood Acres Park, Harrison Hills Park and White Oak Park, is now available to review. Learn more about our stream assessment work!

Twilight Picnic for the Parks

Tickets are now on sale for Twilight Picnic for the Parks!
Mark your calendars for the region's best summer celebration in the Caren Glotfelty Meadow at Hartwood Acres Park - a night of fun, music, delicious food and drinks with friends.
Twilight Picnic, the signature fundraiser for the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, assembles regional supporters in an intimate atmosphere under the stars. This sustainable meadow of native plantings is a beautiful backdrop for al fresco style cocktails and elevated picnic fare by Fluted Mushroom using the finest local ingredients.
Performing throughout the evening will be Buffalo Rose, a wildly charismatic six-piece modern folk/Americana band from Pittsburgh, PA that takes the singer-songwriter tradition to a new level by crafting original songs which are emotive, meticulously arranged, and inspired by a world of idiosyncratic influences that never let a dull or predictable moment creep in.
All proceeds raised from this signature fundraiser go directly back to your nine Allegheny County Parks.
