So You Want to Donate Books to the Library

If you would like to donate material to the library, we're happy to take your donation.

If it's just a bag or two, come in anytime we're open, we're happen to take a look at them.

More than that? Give us a call to set up a time to drop off or stop by with your donation on booksale day and our volunteers will be there to help.

Can't Come in when we're open or on booksale day?

Please don't leave donations outside. It's not very nice. If they get wet or damaged, we have to dispose of them and they create an obstacle for others trying to get in and out of the building.

Consider taking your donation to another CLAMS library or second hand shop.

If you're concerned that the condition of your items will keep them off the shelves, take them to the transfer station for recycling.

Thank you for supporting the library!

The Whelden Library Redeemable Shed

Open 24/7 Recycle your redeemables and make a donation to your library.

Donating is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  1. Bag up your clean, redeemable cans and plastic bottles!
  2. Drop them off at the recycling shed in the library parking lot.
  3. Congratulate yourself on a job well done!

What we can't take:

  • glass
  • water bottles (unless canned/bubble/seltzer)
  • most ciders, teas, and juices

Please be mindful that this is meant as a fundraiser for the library and not a recycling service. Non-redeemables dropped of at the shed adds an expense for the library for disposal.

Check the tops and sides of the cans for the MA designation stamp before donating!

Ellen's Book Review

Brian Klingborg's

Inspector Lu Fei Series

Lu Fei, a cosmopolitan police detective, is transferred to a remote town in northern China, a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Beijing. But soon he uncovers a brutally murdered young woman from the village and sets off to find the killer in Thief of Souls, book 1 in Klingborg’s atmospheric, international crime series. Engaging story with fascinating details. “Riveting” –Booklist

In book 2, Wild Prey, while running a sting operation on the sale and consumption of rare and endangered animals, Lu Fei comes across the curious case of a waitress who has gone missing. In book 3, The Magistrate, a murder investigation with connections to corruption at the very highest level threatens not just the career but also the life of Inspector Lu Fei. "nonstop action, suspense galore, fascinating locale, and compelling characters" -BookPage
