Dear Members and Friends,
I hope that you are all enjoying a safe and wonderful summer.
Last month I had the pleasure of attending the BABN Transatlantic Conference in London. Every year, all 22 chapters of the British American Business Network come together for 3 days of events and meetings.
On night one we enjoyed an evening reception at the London Stock Exchange to celebrate BAB's Transatlantic Growth Campaign, a campaign that showcases transatlantic companies who have had significant growth and/or made foreign direct investments in the UK and US.
On day 2 ,the main conference, hosted at the Bank of America in London, featured various high-profile speakers focusing on the evolving US-UK trade relationship. We discussed the role of people as crucial commodities in the tight labor market, and how businesses and governments can work together to retain and upskill workers. We also heard sessions discussing the rising expectations of sustainability and the role of businesses and government in achieving climate goals, as well as the challenges and opportunities within the digital economy and the application and regulation of new technologies such as AI.
Day 3 was our annual chapter workshop, amazingly attended by representatives from 18 of the 22 BABC chapters, where we shared ideas to help make improvements within our organizations. We also enjoyed an exclusive chat with Emma Wade-Smith, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for North America.
I'd like to acknowledge the BAB teams in London and New York for hosting an excellent conference. It was my honor to represent our Orange County Chapter. Please enjoy the Photo gallery of the event here.
We have many events in the planning stages so, stay tuned! Keep checking the events page of our website for updates. And remember, as a BABC member you have the ability to sponsor events and define event topics so please let us know if you have an ideas.
Finally, we would like to thank all of our members who recently renewed their membership with BABC OC and all the new members who have joined us over the past few months. It's our members that keep the organization ticking. Thank you!
