June was an amazing month for WAO!
To start, a huge thank You for an amazing Summer Fun Fest Kick Off Party & Movie Night! We appreciate everyone who made it to our Kick Off Party and Movie Night last month.

During our June meeting, WAO finalized a date for our second movie night. The movie will be played on September 21 at dusk. Other additional details were discussed and will be released once they are finalized! We are looking for a movie sponsor! If you are interested in sponsoring our fall movie night, please email WAOMarketing1@gmail.com
We Are Oglesby was also informed that they will receive an ARPA grant to put up signage in Oglesby. The goal is to strategically place the signs in order to increase tourism and economic growth within the city.
Lastly, WAO is excited to start planning the 2024 Winter Parade! Planning will start this month and more information will be shared soon with sign-up details and sponsorship options.

Two WAO Members Team Up to Give Back
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable day of golf and community spirit at the Inaugural Trifecta Charity Golf Outing! This exciting event promises not only a day of fun on the greens but also a chance to make a meaningful contribution to vital local services.

Hosted by establishments Garzanelli’s Supper Club, Hillyer’s Archway Tap, and Smitty’s Bar & Grill, this event aims to raise funds for the Leonore Fire Department and the Oglesby Police Shop with a Cop program. Both organizations play critical roles in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

The Newest (and Oldest) Auto Body Shop in Oglesby
SunWerX Auto Body opened on April 27th of this year. It's located at 21 Marquette Avenue in Oglesby, in the same space formerly occupied by Dornik Auto Body. The shop has hired two experienced auto body repair and restoration technicians, "Jimmy O" (Ojstersek) and Kevin Dornik, who together have over 65 years of experience in the industry. SunWerX is family-owned by the Ojstersek-Shams family. Joann, who grew up in Oglesby, and her husband Abdulla returned to live out Joann’s favorite description of Oglesby – “A great place to grow up in and a great place to retire to”. They are working to make the shop customer-centric and efficient, incorporating the latest technological advancements while keeping their customers informed and part of the process.
