Announcing dates that Don will be at Iowa Artisans Gallery: Friday June 29th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Sunday, July 1st from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. The dates and times are limited so please call the gallery to set an appointment with Don 319-351-8686.
We use a cone 6 grolleg porcelain clay body. Tyson does all of the throwing, and Jessica does all of the painting. We make our own underglazes and glazes. All that testing we did years ago was part of an effort to formulate a glaze that matched the clay body's expansion rate as closely as possible. This results in a very durable product despite the fact that it is thin porcelain. We print our own decals and fire the pots a third time to fuse the decals into the glaze surface. Everything we make is lead free and food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
As part of Summer of the Arts, Iowa Artisans Gallery is sponsoring Kidz Creative Corner. In a nutshell, kids can buy a t-shirt that has a pre-printed frame on the front. Then they take it to the Kidz Creative Corner tent where there will be paints and stencils so they can paint their own shirt! The shirts are hung to dry and the kids pick them up later.
