Nevada County Fair
Just Around the Corner!
Greetings from Patti Ingram Spencer, President of the Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation.

"I know I am most likely dating myself, but I always wanted to be a horsewoman, to herd cattle, be a farm girl and grow up to be Dale Evans or Annie Oakley. But my folks did not have the wherewithal or desire to make those childhood dreams come true.

But, as a young girl, at the Nevada County Fair, I could hang out in the barns, enjoying the smell of hay and manure. I watched my friends wash and show their animals. The smells were great; the hay, feed, animal hair, and wet dirt. It was the best! My friends loved what they did, and I loved watching them and also envied them.

All these memories are still with me today because of our fair. Our theme this year is perfect - Country Roots & Cowboy Boots, which suits me just fine.

I'll look forward to seeing you at our hometown fair. You'll find me either in the barns or at the Foundation Station, serving your favorite "adult" beverage."
Fair Fun? ~ Volunteer at Foundation Station!
We Need Your Help ... and it's Fun!

Please consider volunteering at the Station, pouring beer, seltzer, and wine while enjoying our fabulous Fair. It's fun! Volunteer sign-up is quick and easy at the following link:

Making a Difference ~
Attend the Auctions, Support our Youth!
Your participation by attending and bidding at the Nevada County Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction and the Ag Mechanics Auction are great ways to support our local youth in agriculture. The bids and bump-ups at these auctions are investments in the future generations of agriculture and support college funding, vocational training, and future agriculture projects.

The Ag Mechanics Auction is on Friday, August 11th at 5:30 PM at the Sugar Pine Lodge lawn. The auction items are handcrafted and built by Nevada Union High School and Bear River High School FFA members. All items are unique and impressive! Items may include tables, swings, fountains, garden ornaments, and whatever inspires the creative exhibitors.

The Junior Livestock Auction is on Sunday, August 13th at 9 AM at the Henry Magonigal Show Ring in Whitney PavilionBid on market steers, lambs, swine, goats, turkeys, broiler pens, and rabbit meat pens

The Foundation serves beer and wine at both auctions; Bloody Marys and Mimosas are served at the Junior Livestock Auction.
