America

Simon & Garfunkel

"Let us be lovers, we'll marry our fortunes together

I've got some real estate here in my bag"

So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner pies

And walked off to look for America

"Kathy", I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh

"Michigan seems like a dream to me now"

It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw

I've gone to look for America

Laughing on the bus

Playing games with the faces

She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy

I said "Be careful, his bowtie is really a camera"

"Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat"

"We smoked the last one an hour ago"

So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine

And the moon rose over an open field

"Kathy, I'm lost", I said, though I knew she was sleeping

I'm empty and aching and I don't know why

Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike

They've all come to look for America

All come to look for America

All come to look for America

Dear Friends

Simon & Garfunkel's song "America" came to my mind as I was thinking about July 4 celebrations and returning to Bloomington for the next two months. In July 1988 we packed our bags and a guitar to look for America. Much has changed, we've seen wars, economic crisis, pandemic, but our friendships and communities remain and hold us up - let's celebrate togetherness this 4th of July!

July 19 is the official release of "All In Good Time" by Monika Herzig's Sheroes on Zoho Records - here is a preorder link The first single, title track "All In Good Time" is already available on all streaming services and the second single "Parade of Sadness" will be released July 5. Type in Monika Herzig's Sheroes, add them to your playlists, like them, follow Monika Herzig's Sheroes, and play them often - thank you!

More exciting news - Sheroes will perform at the Detroit Jazz Festival on Monday, September 2, 6:15pm! Our tour, with the generous support of a South Arts Touring Grant, will include two of the largest US Jazz Festival: DC Jazz Fest on September 1 and the Detroit Jazz Festival - what a way to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and our 4th album release. Below are all the tour dates, including the European and Asian Tour - thank you also to the Austrian Ministry of Culture and the US Embassy in Nepal for additioanl support, as well as USArtist International funds the MidAtlantic Arts. Hope to see you somewhere - ticket links for the US Tour are also below.
