Thank you, Needham!
With a record year of giving and a record year of service, we would like to take a moment to say thank you, Needham.

From staff to volunteers and donors to friends, you helped move lives forward in our community and create meaningful connections along the way.

Keep reading to see what this group of "neighbors helping neighbors" were part of in just the last month alone.
By the Numbers

Summer temperatures and summer rains finally arrived in Needham and the Council was awash with the feeling of the season.

We were able to keep up with the rhythm of the month thanks to in-kind donations of medical equipment, clothing and small housewares, as well as food, glorious food! - over 6,700 lbs of food from individual dedicated food drives, small businesses, and sports teams.

Your continued support is most appreciated!
Program Updates
In a Jam?
We can give you a LYFT.

In June, the Council provided over 175 rides to important medical appointments, English classes, and pharmacies.

The Transportation program is available to any Needham resident over the age of 18 that does not have another means of getting to an important appointment.

Thank you to partners Beth Israel Deaconess - Needham and the MetroWest Health Foundation for their ongoing support of the program.

Will You Help?
We Need ELL Tutors!

Are you a welcoming person who enjoys conversation? If so, English tutoring with the Council English Language Learning program may be for you!

The English Language Learning program trains tutors to work with adults in the community who want to communicate better in English. Volunteer with the Council to meet individually with an English learner or even lead a small group.

Volunteer training sessions begin in September.

Board Welcome
Welcome, Gloria!
Please join us in welcoming Gloria Kwei (at left with one of her ELL students) to her new role on the Council Board of Directors.

Gloria came to the United States as a foreign student from Taiwan. She enrolled in UC Berkeley, and upon earning her PhD, started a 30+ year career with Pharma companies before settling in Needham in 2004.
She thoroughly enjoyed a recent role as an English Language Learning tutor at the Council and looks forward to working with others to give back to the community.
