Dear Gould Farm friends,

As summer begins, we look forward to a season of simple joys at the Farm—harvesting produce from the garden, tending flower beds, hiking and swimming at the local state forest, walking to Roadside on Saturday's for an iced coffee, and rotating our happy cows out on pasture. This time of year reminds us to rest and find peace amidst life's stresses, often outdoors.

June was filled with much to celebrate, from the Roadside Store & Café ribbon cutting to our annual 5k run to the insightful Residential & Community Treatment of Psychosis Conference we hosted on-site alongside Ellenhorn and the Erikson Institute at Austen Riggs. Each event showcased the value of teamwork and the perseverance of our staff, guests, volunteers, and external partners.

In this July newsletter, we keep things short! You will find:

  • A reminder about our open clinical director position
  • Links to videos of the three presentations given at the Residential & Community Treatment of Psychosis Conference.
  • Profiles of two of our dedicated staff members

Happy summer!

July and August keep our garden team busy with weeding, planting, and harvesting. Guests pick fresh produce, which is washed and brought to the kitchen. It's a delight to enjoy the plentiful greens, sweet peas, and radishes!

Presentation recordings from conference on psychosis now available

The Residential and Community Treatment of Psychosis conference, co-hosted by Gould Farm, the Erikson Institute of Austen Riggs, and Ellenhorn, drew nearly 60 attendees (some from as far away as Colorado) from June 6-8 for an engaging and informative event. Highlights included:

  • Ross Ellenhorn's talk on how social connections impact the negative symptoms of schizophrenia
  • Jeremy Ridenour's insights on addressing loneliness in psychotherapy for psychosis
  • Brett Thatcher's exploration of treating psychosis within therapeutic communities

We are pleased to share that the three main conference presentations are available to view and share. You can find the videos on our blog, at the links below, or on our YouTube channel.

We are also pleased to shared that we plan to host this conference again in 2025! Stay tuned for official information this Fall.
