Platte Valley Dental Care

Creating Healthy Smiles with a Gentle Touch

Dr. Staci Blaha and her team at Platte Valley Dental Care provide quality, affordable dental products and services to Platte City and the surrounding area.

What's New:
Earlier this year, Dr. Blaha began offering enrollment in Quality Dental Plan (QDP), a dental benefit plan designed specifically for individuals without dental insurance."We've seen tremendous participation in the plan by local residents," Dr. Blaha says, "we're happy to be able to offer a plan that helps make dentistry more affordable for our families." Twice yearly, Dr. Blaha attends MasterMind Study Club meetings whose primary focus is promoting quality and affordable dental care. Dr. Blaha is hosting two interns from the University of Missouri - School of Medicine this summer: Jessica Heistand and Trent Blaha.

Did You Know:
In May of this year, Dr. Blaha traveled to Belize to provide dental care to children in San Pedro. Working as dental assistants, Brennen and Trent Blaha accompanied Dr. Blaha on this trip. The Blahas describe this trip as an "awesome experience" where they worked alongside many professionals including teachers and pediatricians. She's planning another trip this summer to help assess the volunteer needs of the local clinic. Dr. Blaha will eventually take over the responsibility of arranging and scheduling volunteers for the clinic herself.

A big thank you to Platte Valley Dental Care for all you do for our community and communities abroad!

Small Business Tips:

Missouri Drug Card

Can't afford to provide health benefits for your employees? Check out  Missouri's Prescription Assistance Program. As a resident of Missouri, you and your employees have access to the statewide program. Encourage them to create and print their FREE discount prescription drug card by clicking here. Consider creating a hand-out that highlights what the program offers for distribution with paychecks/stubs.

Accept credit cards via iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android:

Square is a free app businesses can use to accept credit cards via iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android devices. The app is free, but you do need a card reader to swipe the card. It has some cool features like  SMS receipts, ability to track sales online, etc. There are also some drawbacks, for instance, you cannot delete or refund transactions. Mashable has an article about this with links that you might find helpful. We'll be watching this app to see how it performs. If your business uses it, let us know how it goes!

Twitter Chats: Have you participated in one yet?

From Heidi Cohen's website: Twitter chats are virtual meetings that consist of concurrent Twitter conversations at a designated time. Like face-to-face meetings, the goal of Twitter chats is to exchange information and discuss topics of interest. Special hashtags are used so that participants can follow the conversation in real time.

Participating in your first Twitter chat can feel a bit like trying to take a drink from a fire hose. We found a great article to help you be a "twitter chat champion" if you're interested. Click here to read more!
